Strictly’s Shirley Ballas issues update on La Voix’s injury after ‘gutting’ exit

Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas has shared more details about La Voix’s injury on Loose Women, revealing that they’re “absolutely gutted” to miss the show. Earlier today, Strictly announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star La Voix was pulling out of the upcoming Blackpool specials due to an injury.
“Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend’s Blackpool specials,” a spokesperson said. “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.”

La Voix added that they are dropping out of the shows with “immense sadness”. They said: “Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.

“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone. I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery.”
Now, Strictly judge Shirley has shared an update on the situation, revealing that La Voix was dealing with an injury last week as well. Appearing on Loose Women today, she said: “It has just been announced.
“She did have an injury last week but this week it’s gotten worse and the doctor has said that she absolutely needs to rest it. Now she will get a bye to the following week.”
Shirley added that La Voix is “absolutely gutted”. The dance champion continued: “I’ve just read her message, and it’s very, very, very sad. The one thing she wanted from the very beginning, ‘I want to make Blackpool, I want to make Blackpool.’
“That’s what she said every week. That was her dream, that was her goal and now that will bypass. She will be watching and supporting everyone from home.”
During last weekend’s show, La Voix made it into the top half of the leaderboard after their Couple’s Choice routine to Don’t Rain On My Parade by Barbara Streisand. They have been dancing throughout the series with professional Aljaz Skorjanec.
Meanwhile, ex Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison ended up in the bottom two alongside EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal. Both stars received a score of 27 for their routines, however it was Balvinder who the judges voted to save.
Vicky became the eighth star to leave the competition, telling host Tess Daly: “It was so lovely while it lasted, and I’ve had the nicest time. I knew this week was a difficult one for me, and I tried my hardest as I have every week.
“Listen, I didn’t think I’d get past week one. And I’m really honoured to have shared this experience with so many amazing people. Mostly with this fella [Kai] right here. I don’t want to sound too cheesy but [to Kai] you’ve been the best partner a girl can ask for.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t get you to Blackpool but I feel like I’ve won just by having you as my partner and I’m so grateful.”
