Veteran Australian actor Nicholas Eadie died in Sydney on Wednesday aged 67.
The beloved actor was born in Sydney in 1958 and worked extensively in Australian film and television for over three decades.
His tragic passing was announced by fellow actor Will Conyers on social media: ‘Vale, Nicholas Eadie, 1958 – 2025.
‘I send my deepest sympathy to all those that were touched by this very special artist and human being.’
No cause of death was given and it was revealed he was found at his home in Sydney.
Eadie was a 1980 graduate of Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts.

He began his celebrated acting career in 1981 with a two-year stint on Channel Seven’s Cop Shop series, where he played Constable Sam Phillips.
His long-career saw him appear on many renowned Australians productions, including A Country Practice, Return to Snowy River and Halifax FP.
He was also an accomplished stage actor and performed across Australia in productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Taming of the Shrew and much more.
Eadie’s final acting role was in the 2011 TV movie Underbelly Files: The Man Who Got Away, opposite Boy Swallows Universe star Toby Schmitz.
Many of Eadie’s friends and fans quickly took to social media to share their heartbreak over his passing.
‘Vale the magnificent Nicholas Eadie – one of Australia’s finest actors,’ wrote theatre manager Les Solomon.
‘One of my most enduring memories is of his thrilling, heart-breaking performances. Vale Nicholas,’ added theatre director Robert Jarman.
‘Oh no, darling Nicholas. Such sad news. Loved this gorgeous man so much,’ wrote a third person.

‘Adored his company and friendship at NIDA. RIP gorgeous soul,’ they continued.
‘Oh dear Nic…. too soon. I will always remember him saying backstage during Holding the Man “Dolly did it” in a baby voice. I still say it to this day and think of him. He blamed Dolly for anything that went wrong. Dolly did a lot of naughty things. Nic was sweet and funny and a wonderful actor. Love to his friends and family. He will be missed,’ wrote another.
‘Oh my goodness x Vale Nicholas gone too too soon x thoughts with his loved ones,’ commented one more.
His incredible performances were often recognised at the Australian Film Institute Awards.
In 1987, Eadie won Best Actor in a Miniseries for his performance in the show Vietnam, opposite Nicole Kidman.
He was also nominated in 2000 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Telefeature or Mini-Series for his work on Halifax FP.
Eadie worked with many of Australia’s most celebrated actors throughout his career, including Nicole Kidman, Barry Otto and Cornelia Frances.
He was a notoriously private individual in real life and it is not known if he is survived by a partner or children.
