Bruno burst onto the scene as a young actor in the early noughties.

He landed the role of Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street and was the soap’s first openly gay character.

Over the years he left the soap a few times to peruse other roles, which included playing Adam Mitchell in Doctor Who.

He also featured in the film The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse in June 2005 and an episode of Dalziel and Pascoe.

Bruno returned to Corrie briefly in 2007, before returning full time in 2013.

In total, Bruno played Todd for 16 years before his life changed forever following a boozy night out in Manchester.

S3XUAL ASSAULT CONVICTION

During the evening he s3xually assaulted two women – one her 20s the other in her 30s – and he was arrested.

Bruno appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in November 2017 where he pleaded guilty to s3xually assaulting two women.

He was spared jail but was issued with a 12 month community order, an electronic tag and ordered to stick to a curfew as well as pay compensation to his victims.

Bruno was also ordered to sign the s3x offender’s register for five years.

The actor gave a tearful apology following his appearance in the dock.

He told The Sunday Mirror: “I have no excuse, no one forced me to drink to such an extreme, but it is hard to explain why I would do anything as dreadful as that.

“It must have been awful for those women, and I am ashamed of myself. I’m truly sorry.

“I sincerely apologise to the women, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will never do anything like that again.”

AXED FROM CORRIE

Following his conviction, Bruno was immediately axed from Corrie, with ITV bosses wiping all trace of him from the show.

The actor was written out the soap, with his character Todd being sent on the run after assaulting a police officer.

The character returned to the soap in 2020, and this time was played by Archers star Gareth Pierce.

Bosses also made sure there were no more sightings of Bruno on the cobbles by replacing all the old pictures of Todd with snaps of Gareth.

BRUNO NOW

When he was sentenced, the judge said his s3xual assault convictions meant Bruno would probably not work in television again.

This has been the case ever since, and the actor has now switched to photography.

Bruno announced his new career in a Twitter post in 2019, and wrote: “I just wanted to reach out and say that yes I am a photographer now, I’m really happy being creative in this way, and I make people really happy with what I do.”

Talking about taking a step back from the public eye, he added: “I have been taking some time out these last two years or so to catch my breath, reassess what is important to me, and to make myself a better person.

“I understand some people will want to say negative things and that is fine, I can take it.

“I have been shown so much support and love by so many people, be it friends, family, or strangers I meet, and I want to thank you from my heart for being so amazing and compassionate towards me.”

Bruno also pursued a career in music, and shared his first track Downpour on Spotify in 2021.

Featuring his sister Amy on the cello, he wrote next to the song: “Good evening friends, brothers & sisters. My latest track ‘Downpour’ is available to stream right now.

“For anyone that practices yoga or meditation or for people that just want to chill-out and de-stress, this might be your kind of thing.

“My beautiful and endlessly talented sister Amy provided the Cello for me -thank you so much sister, I love you. I am really happy to share this track with you, I had a great time making it. All my best – Bru x”.

Bruno also released a free audiobook of bedtime stories available for parents to download.
