The actor ditched his well-paid job to follow his dreams of becoming a professional rally driver and he’s done it

FORMER Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has swapped acting for professional car racing.
The actor – who played Andy Sugden in the ITV soap before quitting last year – ditched his well-paid job to follow his dreams of becoming a professional rally driver and he’s done it.

He now drives a £200,000 supercar for his races after beginning aged 28 in a classic Mini.
“I ended up winning the championship,” he told the Mirror.
And he doesn’t plan on stopping at one championship either.
He added: “I’ve signed professional contracts. It’s certainly snowballed and it’s a dream come true.”

However, while his sights are firmly set on racing, he hasn’t given up acting completely.
In fact he is making plans to return to screens next year, but instead of returning to British screens, he will become the latest soap star to chance his arm in America.
“We’ve already made plans for America,” he said.
“I’m going over in January for meetings but I will also look at places to stay.

As for a much-wanted return to Emmerdale, Kelvin admitted he won’t be returning any time soon.
He said: “Emmerdale is and always will be in my DNA but whether I’m going back, let’s just say the people who are convinced I am have a crystal ball that I don’t.”
