This week’s episodes of Emmerdale saw Gabby Thomas take things to the next level with partner Vinny – agreeing to marry him after he proposed on Thursday. Her relationship with Vinny has been a period of calm for Gabby, who hasn’t exactly had it easy when it comes to men.

Jacob was Gabby Thomas’s first crush on Emmerdale

As a youth, Gabby developed feelings for Jacob. Their teen romance immediately hit the rocks when Jacob learned that she’d been a part of Lachlan White’s plot to rob Pollard – telling all to his dad (and Eric’s son), David. The pair reconciled, but were forbidden from seeing each other after stealing alcohol from the shop.

The teenagers later almost had sex, but were foiled by Laurel, Leyla and David before they could have gone through with it. A lucky miss, if Jacob’s recent treatment of women is anything to go by.

Losing her virginity to Josh Crowther

In 2016, Gabby and Liv skipped school to spend time with classmates Josh Crowther and Jamie Halstead. It was then that Gabby slept with Josh – earning a slap from Laurel after she discovered that Gabby had done the deed in her and Ashley’s marital bed.

Gabby had the child of Jamie Tate in Emmerdale

In early 2021, Gabby developed a crush on Kim Tate’s son, Jamie. Following a one-night stand, Gabby fell pregnant with his child. Refusing to have an abortion, Gabby kept the baby, later giving birth to son Thomas (who, thankfully, got the Tate last name), and not her own.

Jamie eventually came around to the idea of a family, even agreeing to her idea that they elope together. However, unbeknownst to Gabby, Jamie still had eyes for his ex, Dawn, and was hoping to win her back. He disappeared before Gabby could decide whether she really wanted to marry a man who didn’t love her.

Following Jamie’s disappearance, Gabby became paranoid, and worried that he would return in order to take her son away. In doing so, she took to the woods wielding a shotgun, where she shot Will Taylor, believing him to be Jamie.

Thankfully, Jamie never did return, although, having faked his death, he could still show up at any time.

Nicky Miligan had a nefarious plan

In 2022, a man named Nicky Fox arrived in the village, taking on the job of a live-in nanny at Home Farm. He soon seduced Gabby – which was all part of a grander scheme cooked up by his secret dad, Caleb Miligan.

With Gabby unaware that their relationship was a ploy for Caleb to get his hands on Kim Tate’s money (with Thomas being her direct heir), they announced their engagement soon after. However, Nicky was unable to go through with the marriage – revealing to Gabby that he was gay on what should have been their wedding day.

Nicky left the village a few months after his father’s scheme was exposed (and foiled), together with lover Suni Sharma.

Vinny and Gabby got engaged on Emmerdale this week

Last year, unlucky in love Gabby began dating Vinny. She moved in on her dead friend’s husband and, in spite of his nerves and inexperience, they’ve been on solid ground ever since.

On paper, their romance seem like an unusual one. Nice-but-dim (we say it with love) Vinny and high-maintenance Gabby? An odd combination, but they’ve been good for each other so far.

But with Vinny struggling with the prospect of fatherhood and some viewers decrying their lack of chemistry, who knows what the future holds. Will it be happily ever after for Vinny and Gabby?
