Emmerdale fans have rumbled the soap’s April Fool attempt after seeing through a new social media post online.
The soap tried to trick fans with a huge ‘history-making’ announcement, revealing that AI pets would soon be entering the village.
But, fans soon realised that this was the soap’s attempt at an April Fool’s joke!

Emmerdale announces introduction of AI pets to the village
In a new social media video today (Tuesday, April 1), Emmerdale announced that the soap would be introducing AI pets.
The post shared: “We’re excited to reveal that AI Pets will soon be making an appearance in Emmerdale!
“Take a look at how this cutting-edge technology will work.”
A video then showed Danny Miller and Lawrence Robb playing with a pretend dog. They then said that it was a great idea as it would mean those with allergies could work with the AI animals.
The actors had no idea what their pet would look like until they were aired on-screen later on.
But, while the village is no stranger to AI videos (cough, cough, deepfake Will), AI pets aren’t actually going to be entering the village anytime soon.
We’re sure Piper is breathing a sigh of relief right now…

Fans rumble Emmerdale AI pet April Fool
Fans were quick to realise that the new announcement was one big April Fool.
Yes, that’s right, AI pets aren’t actually a new feature in Soapworld, and real animals don’t need to worry about their roles being replaced just yet! Phew.
One fan commented: “Nice try. Don’t think we were fooled, but yes, it would actually be nice to see some more pets in the show!”
Another fan shared: “Well done, I looked at this before I was fully awake & aware of the date. Your commitment to the scene was admirable chaps & I have now started the day with a much needed smile on my face. Now let me go & check what Corrie have done on theirs.”
Another person added: “Is this is an April Fools’ joke???? Bring Piper back. That dog is cuter. If the actors lose their jobs, they can become farmers in Yorkshire!!! We need more farmers to feed the nation!!! AI pets won’t work in the fields.”
