“‘He Said This When the Cameras Were Off…’” — Ruth Langsford Drops King Charles’ Shock Private Admission, Leaving Fans Stunned and Royals Buzzing

Ruth Langsford has revealed details of a personal conversation with King Charles which left her feeling “star-struck”. The 65-year-old encountered the monarch and Queen Camilla back in 2018 during their visit to the ITV studios, celebrating The Royal Television Society’s 90th anniversary.
Then known as Prince Charles, he and Camilla spent time with ITV personalities and enjoyed refreshments on the iconic This Morning set. The Loose Women presenter disclosed that the Royal couple were particularly eager to discuss Strictly Come Dancing with her. When Woman and Home Magazine enquired about her most recent star-struck moment, she responded: “When I met King Charles – well, he was actually the Prince of Wales at the time. He and Camilla came for a tour of ITV, and spoke to me about Strictly and how much she loves the show.” Furthermore, despite the monarch’s well-documented appreciation for dancing, he made a surprising admission about his own abilities, reports the Mirror.

“He told me he couldn’t dance,” Ruth disclosed. This meeting occurred twelve months after the former This Morning presenter competed in the programme alongside former professional dancer, now judge, Anton Du Beke.
Looking back on her Strictly experience recently, Ruth acknowledged she lacked sufficient time to properly hone her dance performances. The former contestant, who came ninth, revealed: “I’d be learning, and learning, and learning, and that would be the start, and then he’d show me the next section and he’d go, ‘right, from the top’ and I couldn’t remember it from the top.
“And Anton will back me up, because nobody believes me, I genuinely can say there was not one Saturday where I 100% knew my dance because I didn’t have enough time.
“I think there are people who maybe aren’t working, or that’s the sole thing they’re doing, but I was doing This Morning and Loose Women, so I never got to rehearsal till half past two in the afternoon, and you’re tired.”
Speaking to The Mirror, she continued: “I wasn’t that person that did 10-12, hours of rehearsals a day because I couldn’t, and it was fine, and I just accepted that and I did what I could.”
Ruth isn’t the only former Strictly star to have shared an anecdote involving members of the Royal Family.

This year’s participant La Voix recently disclosed fascinating details about an encounter she had at a Royal celebration where she was invited to entertain. According to her account, she witnessed the late Queen Elizabeth II displaying a surprisingly different side when she demonstrated her dancing prowess.
She explained: “I’ve [performed] for the Royal Family for two years in a row. I did their New Year’s Eve party at the Dorchester for two years in a row for Prince William and Harry – it was their party and it was amazing.
“Obviously there were loads of NDAs signed and things that I’m not allowed to talk about – I can’t give you too much – but I can say I’m one of the only people to have watched the Queen dance to Uptown Funk, Queen Liz.”
