Coronation Street fans learned what Eileen Grimshaw’s sister Julie Carp was hiding on the ITV soap on Monday night after her mystery return, leading to some devastating news

There was some upsetting news on Coronation Street on Monday night, as Julie Carp revealed her sad secret.
It was clear she was hiding something after her sudden return to the ITV soap last week, with her bumping into her nephew Todd Grimshaw. But amid her heading to Weatherfield for the first time in 10 years as part of sister Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline it was clear something was going on.
She was avoiding her sister and making up excuses about needing to leave for a work meeting, with no intention of seeing Eileen. Then on Monday night she continued to try and get away unseen, before sneaking to the street and into Eileen’s home while she was out.
Todd had ended up with Julie’s bag after she left it behind, and she realised it was in the house so went to retrieve it only for Todd to return home. As she made yet more excuses about work, Eileen’s partner George Shuttleworth headed in and the two men asked Julie what was going on.
Todd ended up opening up the bag realising Julie was desperate to get her hands on it, and he was shocked to find several different types of medication. It’s then that Julie was forced to reveal what was happening, and her sad secret came to light before a reunion with Eileen.

George had found a leaflet in the bag about cancer, forcing Julie to reveal she had been diagnosed. Later, Julie and nephew Todd opened up about the discovery, with his aunt telling him the full story.
Julie confirmed she’d been diagnosed with sarcoma, rare cancers that often develop in the bones and soft tissues. Julie told him her cancer began in the soft tissue around her stomach but had sadly spread.
She informed him that she was stage four, after the cancer had spread to her liver and her lungs. She’s now having treatment, chemotherapy, to slow the cancer down while it will not cure her.
Julie told Todd she was terminal, telling him she would be “lucky if she sees summer”. She also revealed she was back in Weatherfield to see specialists in alternative palliative care, possibly giving her more time, but she did not want her sister Eileen to know anything.
Todd was devastated and comforted his aunt, agreeing to keep her secret. He wanted her to tell Eileen the truth but Julie said she wanted her sister to remember her as she was before, and she wanted to make the most of the time she had left.
