HEARTBREAKING: BBC Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury has opened up about her health struggles after she made the HEARTBREAKING ANNOUNCEMENT
BBC Countryfile star Julia Bradbury confessed “I don’t think you’re ever the same again” as she opened up about her shocking ‘brain cyst’ diagnosis.
The Irish-born television presenter chose to take charge of her health and enhance her wellbeing following her cancer diagnosis in 2021. Now free from cancer, she revealed her devastating diagnosis provided the motivation she required to implement major lifestyle transformations.
Julia featured on Wednesday’s instalment of BBC The One Show with presenters Alex Jones and Vernon Kay as she discussed her latest book, which she hopes will assist others facing similar circumstances.
During a heartfelt exchange, the celebrity revealed: “My cancer diagnosis was the moment for me when I started looking at my health more and what I wanted to do was see how I could get through my cancer diagnosis, through the treatment and what I could do to help myself in terms of recovery and leading a long happy life after my cancer scare.”
She added: “What I would say to anyone going through cancer is that I fell for you because it is one of the most petrifying things you can go through and it really does care for you and shock you”, reports Wales Online.
“When you hear those words ‘you’ve got cancer’ I don’t think you’ll ever be the same again but when I started to learn more about health and wellness I found it utterly fascinating and I started making these strides to improve my health.
“Along the way I was like right there are so many exciting people, so many interesting experts that I can speak to about sleep science, about the impact of nature on our lives, about nutrition obviously.”
She continued: “And then I wanted to find out about all the things I have been through so the alcohol, the sugar and the sleep I wasn’t doing very well and what impact it had on my body.”
During her wellness journey, she shared a moment when she faced a new health scare but assured that there is “nothing to worry about”.
Detailing the numerous tests she underwent to learn more about her body, Julia said: “I gave about 45 vials of blood, I gave poo samples to check my gut, I had a full body MRI.”
The presenter then disclosed: “They discovered a cyst in my brain, which is nothing to worry about but it is there. They did a full body ultrasound as well, which is interesting having my body completely scanned to see if there were any lumps and bumps.
“And actually they discovered something in my ovary as well but I had that checked out and that was alright as well.”
She added: “I’m one of those people who find it fascinating to learn more because I feel empowered but I know some people feel a bit scared and don’t want to know and I completely get it. I’m not that person, I’m curious.”
