HEARTBREAKING NEWS: Al Roker BREAKS DOWN Giving EMOTIONAL UPDATE About TODAY Co Host And Fans Join Him In PRAYING FOR HER RECOVERY

Four months after her mysterious absence, Sheinelle Jones‘ Today co-hosts are finally giving an update on her return.
“I just talked to her a couple days ago — she’s taking some time to be with her family and we talk to her all the time,” Today‘s Third Hour co-host Craig Melvin told Access Hollywood on April 11. “We love our girl. It’s been nice to see how much everyone else loves her, too.”
Dylan Dreyer, another anchor for Today’s Third Hour, confirmed that Jones didn’t leave Today and will “be back” eventually, though she didn’t reveal when her return would be. “She misses being here — she wishes she was here with us, but she’s doing what she needs to do,” she said. Roker, for part, added, “We’re just praying for her.”
Jones, who last appeared on Today on December 18, revealed in an Instagram post in January that she took a leave of absence from the talk show to deal with a “family health matter.” “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter,” she wrote at the time. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”
During a Today broadcast at the time, Melvin and co-host Savannah Guthrie sent their love to Jones. “We know so many of you have been asking about Sheinelle and missing her,” Guthrie said. “We miss her too.” Melvin added, “Sheinelle, we all love you and are so looking forward to having you back.” Guthrie continued, “We’ll see you soon.”
Jones joined Today in 2014 and has regularly filled in as a co-anchor and guest for programs like Today with Jenna & Friends. Jones’ absence came at the same time as former co-host Hoda Kotb’s exit from Today after 17 years. Melvin was announced as Kotb’s replacement in November. During the episode, Melvin revealed the advice that Jones gave him before he took over Kotb’s post.
“You and I had a great conversation yesterday that I needed,” Melvin told Jones. “You’re like, ‘Today, just receive it.’ Because I don’t always do well with…” Jones interrupted him, “Craig sometimes will be like, ‘Ah, blah, blah, blah.’ I was like, ‘Craig, this time, [relax].’”
Melvin continued, “I’m excited, I’m honored, I’m humbled, I’m just all the things. And I genuinely love working here, and we’re blessed to get to do these jobs, and, you know, just I love it. I love the people. I just, I enjoy it. I still pinch myself. And I love staying here too!”
Jone went on to joke that Melvin would never leave “the four that makes him cry” before telling him that she looked forward to continue working with him. “I love the 3rd Hour,” Melvin said, to which Jones responded, “We have a good thing.”
“You’re stuck with me,” he continued. “I said to you a couple weeks ago, I’ve worked with you longer than anyone else in my career at this point.”
