HEARTBREAKING: This Morning’s Alison Hammond makes HEARTBREAKING ANNOUNCEMENT on set of The Great British Bake Off

Presenter Alison Hammond has revealed that she had to have “full-on surgery” while filming The Great British Bake Off, after she struggled with a bout of hayfever.
The presenter, back with the 2025 series of the show tonight (September 2), has been vocal about suffering from allergie before. In fact, earlier this year, she was so poorly she was forced to pull out of hosting This Morning.
Now it’s been revealed that she also came a cropped during the filming of this year’s Channel 4 baking show.

Alison Hammond endures ‘full-on surgery’ at the hands of the GBBO make-up department
The presenter wasn’t actually speaking about actual surgery that an actual surgeon performs. No, the self-confession drama queen revealed that she had to set the GBBO make-up team to work covering up the affects her allergies had on her face during filming.
We had to have an early start today, because we’ve had to do full-on surgery.
The show is filmed in the middle of summer, in the middle of a field – less-than-perfect conditions for anyone with allergies. And, speaking to the Telegraph, Alison revealed how she had to seek help before filming kicked off.
She told the broadsheet: “We had to have an early start today, because we’ve had to do full-on surgery.” The star – branded a “trooper” – revealed she was “on the hunt for some local honey to see if that helps her acclimatise to the pollen count”.
While the idea that local honey can help with hayfever, there’s no significant evidence to support the claim. However, we guess there’s no harm in trying a sweet treat… She is in the Bake Off tent, after all!
But that’s not the first time Alison has spoken about her allergies. Back in May, she was forced to pull out of presenting This Morning after pollen triggered her hayfever.

Alison Hammond reveals reason for This Morning absence
Back in May, Alison took to her Instagram Story and revealed that she is suffering from the “worst hayfever”.
It has hit me like a bus.
Looking pretty poorly, she told her 1.7 million followers: “Good morning everybody, I’ve got a filter on this, as I look that rough.”
She added: “I’ve had the worst hayfever for the last, I’d say two to three days. I don’t know what’s hit me, but it has hit me like a bus.”
Alison continued: “So I’m just letting you know that I’m not going to be making This Morning today. But the lovely Lisa Snowdon is going to be stepping into my shoes looking after my lovely Dermot, listen, I’ll see you next week.”

Alison says she’s ‘so sorry’
Reassuring her fans, Alison said: “I’m fine, but I’ve got loads of drugs, I’ve got all the hayfever stuff!”
The Brummie star then showed off the medication she was taking, including eye drops, Vitamin D tablets and a nose spray. “I am fine, I’ll see you next week! Love you lots. Sorry I am not there today,” Alison said, before ending the video.
Fingers crossed the GBBO make-up team did a filter-worthy job to make the star camera ready for tonight’s series premiere!
