HEARTFELT ANNOUNCEMENT: Gogglebox couple ‘AXED’ after Three Years

Gogglebox stars Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have announced their departure from the Channel 4 hit show in a heartfelt TikTok post, after not being invited back for the upcoming series. The Scottish duo, who made history as the first from Scotland to join the programme in February 2022, shared their emotional exit with fans.

Roisin, 26, and Joe, 28, expressed their disappointment at being “dumped” by the show after nearly four years of entertaining viewers from their couch. In her TikTok message, Roisin penned: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26.”

The couple acknowledged their gratitude towards Studio Lambert for the incredible journey, noting: “Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights! It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”

Roisin also extended thanks to the crew, saying: “We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely.”

In concluding their message, they thanked their supporters and reflected on their unique experience: “It for sure has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Time to watch tv in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already, Roisin and Joe x x x.”, reports the Mirror.

The Express has contacted Channel 4 for a statement.

Roisin accompanied their announcement with a collection of memes they created, including one featuring a scene from Toy Story where Channel 4 is depicted as the villain Sid, and the couple as Woody being discarded. The meme shows Sid declaring, “I don’t want to play with you anymore,” as he drops Woody.

Another image displayed a tearful child with the words: “Being dumped from gogglebox.”

Yet, a subsequent meme showed a jubilant Anthony Mackie as Captain America, celebrating freedom from contractual obligations with the caption: “No longer having to adhere to a contract and can work with brands and companies.”

Supportive comments from fans quickly swamped the post, with one fan expressing: “Loved you and Joe on Gogglebox. Won’t be the same without you.”

Another exclaimed: “NOOOOOOOOOO I JUST FELL TO THE FLOOR IN ASDA.”

One follower lamented: “That’s a real shame,” while another conveyed disappointment: “Awww no! I will miss you guys flying the flag for Scotland.”
