Helen Flanagan returned to the dating scene this year following her split from Scott Sinclair – with the actress looking back on her experience in hilarious style this week
Helen Flanagan has been opening up about life as a single woman and dishing details about her love life.
The former Coronation Street actress, 33, revealed all to her fans on social media about her dating woes throughout 2023 – admitting to being ghosted by one potential love interest, having a one night stand and experiencing one possible suitor ruining her mental health.
Helen – who recently announced details of an upcoming acting role – split from footballer Scott Sinclair in July last year. Scott, who plays for Bristol Rovers, and Helen share three children together Matilda, 7, Delilah, 4, and son Charlie, 1. They first started dating in 2009, with the footballer proposing in 2018.
However, after 13 years together the couple called it quits on their relationship with Helen adapting to being a single woman for the first time in her adult life over recent months. Taking to social media earlier this week, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Helen joking looked back on her quest to find a new partner this year.

The mum-of-three shared a light-hearted video on TikTok introducing “the men of 2023” to her followers, including screenshots of her how she saved her dates’ phone numbers in her contacts list. Some of the cheeky nicknames Helen gave the past love interests included: “Too obsessed with their dog, ruined my mental health. My ghoster. D3ad chat. Complicated X. D3ad chat 2. My One Night Stand.”
An optimistic Helen captioned the candid update: “After 13 years of being wifed off, I’ve spent this year trying to find myself and start dating again. Lets just say it’s been an experience… In conclusion we’re hoping for a better 2024.”
Rumours that Helen and Scott had split started in October last year, following Helen’s appearance at the Pride of Britain awards where she walked the red carpet without her engagement ring on her left hand. Fans had earlier suspected that Helen and her ex might have got back together when she was spotted wearing a large diamond ring on her left hand and holidaying with him in Dubai.
In an interview with OK! magazine this year, Helen explained that Scott was in Dubai during a break from training while she was on holiday with their kids, so they decided to spend the day together. The former soap star also explained the reason she hasn’t returned the engagement ring Scott proposed with back in 2018.
She confessed that she hasn’t given the huge sparkler back to her ex since their split, saying: “My ring’s my ring, it’s for my girls.” In the same chat, Helen revealed that she and her ex-partner actually parted ways in July of the previous year. She had to break the news to her family and friends that their wedding, planned at the grand Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire, was off.
