A 23-year-old woman is recovering at home after doctors in Wyoming believe her drink was spiked with antifreeze while celebrating New Years Eve in Cody, Wyoming, KTVQ reported.
Kailey Kline was ringing in the New Year with her friends and didn’t think anything of the drinks she was consuming until she arrived home later that evening. Her fiancé picked her up shortly after the bar closed at around 1:30 a.m. The two headed home and everything seemed fine, until about 10 minutes after the couple arrived home. That’s when Kline began experiencing seizures and foaming at the mouth prompting her fiancé to immediately call 911.
First responders airlifted Kline to St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings where she was there for three days sedated and on a ventilator and continued to suffer from seizures. She was successfully removed from the ventilator after her fifth day in the hospital, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for medical expenses.
Kline had reportedly told police that she had been handed a drink by someone she didn’t know and doctors at the hospital believe that the drink had been spiked with antifreeze, KTVQ reported.
Her family said on the GoFundMe page that Kline was able to be discharged from the hospital on Monday and was “adamant to walk on her own out of the hospital doors.”
Kline is a mother of two young children and was “missing her babies and wanted very much to be home with them,” the GoFundMe page reads.

Kline’s mother had said in an interview with Cowboy State Daily, that her daughter rarely goes out and drinks but had wanted to celebrate the New Year with her friends at a bar called The Silver Dollar. She added that she does not blame the bar for what happened to her daughter but said that she may have been “too trusting” of strangers. Local police are investigating the incident but have not identified a suspect, KTVQ reported. Local authorities confirmed to the outlet that they are conducting interviews with people who were at the bar at the time of the incident.
In the GoFundMe her family said that Kline’s fiancé, Shawn, has not left her side since she was brought to the hospital.

“Shawn has been her rock! He’s stayed calm, humble and positive in such a chaotic situation,” Kline’s mom wrote on the GoFundMe page. “He showed up every day, and spent every visiting hour by her side. He fed and combed her hair when she was too weak to do it herself. He has the patience of a saint! Had it not been for his instincts to call an ambulance, this could have been a very different scenario.”
