Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher took to Instagram on Wednesday night to share his pride over his daughter, Marnie, seven, landing a soap role and making her first TV acting debut

Kelvin Fletcher has been left “beaming with pride” as his daughter Marnie, seven, made her acting debut on a soap.
The actor, 40, is best known for playing Andy Sugden on Emmerdale, which is a role he had from 1996 until he decided to leave in 2016. And now, Kelvin’s daughter Marnie is following in her famous soap dad’s footsteps as he took to Instagram on Wednesday night to share a clip of Marnie playing Lexi Roscoe in Hollyoaks.
Posting a clip of Marnie’s scene and then a picture of his smiling daughter behind a clapperboard, he penned: “Marnie made her TV acting debut last week as she joined the fantastic cast of @hollyoaksofficial I was her ‘chaperone’ and I can’t begin to tell you the emotions I felt standing there watching.
“To be standing behind the camera, watching my 7yr old daughter act for the first time in front of the camera, brought so many feelings back to when I first started acting and it felt so surreal to be there witnessing it all again but this time, as a parent. My heart was beaming with pride and it was genuinely one of the very few times I’ve felt completely fulfilled.

“To see your child find their passion and chase that feeling is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things to behold. What a moment for me and more importantly, what a moment for her. Well done darling. P.S. The same week she got that casting, I didn’t get two! Typical.”
Kelvin’s wife, Liz, also took to Instagram to share a collection of snaps, writing: “Introducing Lexi Roscoe! We couldn’t be prouder of Marnie joining the cast of Hollyoaks and last week her very first scene was aired! Day 1 she walked on set like she’s been doing it for 20 years what a girl” with heart emojis.
Kelvin’s followers, celebrity friends and former co-stars were quick to share the celebrations. Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle star Danny Miller put: “Always was gonna be a star lad”, former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas put a heart emoji while EastEnders actress Emma Barton added: “Oh I love this!!! Bless her!” with clapping emojis.
Since leaving Emmerdale in 2016, Kelvin went on to win Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. He has also landed his own TV series, Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure and Fletchers’ Family Farm.
