Bosses at ITV are reportedly looking to replace Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley when their This Morning contracts come to an end – and there are one power couple that is said to be wanted by producers. Husband and wife duo Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have allegedly caught the attention of ITV bigwigs after they appeared on BBC’s The One Show together. It followed Tess leaving her role alongside Claudia Winkleman on Strictly Come Dancing after a remarkable 21-year stint. Veteran broadcaster Tess was met with an enthusiastic reception from viewers following the BBC programme. Their previous significant joint presenting engagement was on the BBC vocal competition Just the Two of Us, which they fronted from 2006 to 2007.

An insider revealed to the Sun: “It was a total no-brainer the second they saw them on The One Show sofa. Execs have been sweet on Vernon for ages, but the pair’s natural husband-and-wife banter made them realise exactly what This Morning has been missing.

“They are obsessed with finding the next Richard and Judy, and Tess and Vernon have that exact same effortless magic. Audiences are notoriously tough on new faces, but they completely fell in love with their northern charm.”

The publication also states that Cat and Ben’s agreements expire this spring. However, ITV have quashed these claims as they shared that they “have no plans” to change the current presenting lineup.

In a statement, they told Express.co.uk: “We are very happy with Cat, Ben, Alison, and Dermot as This Morning’s lead presenters and there are no plans for that to change. 2026 has got off to a great start for the show with viewing up year on year and a weekly reach of 3.7 million viewers.”

Elsewhere on ITV, Lorraine and Loose Women have been taken off air “for weeks” after a string of no-shows.

Christine Lampard, who was standing in for the Scottish presenter on Friday (March 6), revealed to audiences that the ITV programme will be off-air for an extended period.

The Loose Women panellist had been deputising for Lorraine, with This Morning’s Ben Shephard having covered the previous day.

Wrapping up the episode, Christine told the audience: “That’s all for today here, Lorraine will be back in a few weeks’ time. Have a lovely weekend. See you soon.”

On the same day, Loose Women’s Kaye Adams also revealed that the show wouldn’t be on our screens “for a few weeks”.

She told the audience: “We will be back next month. Until then, take care, have a fabulous weekend and Easter, and we’ll see you very soon!”
