At the time, it was claimed Jim Carr Snr was “sick and tired” of the “false characterisation” the 8 Out Of 10 Cats host presents of his dad.

Now a pal of Jimmy’s parent has claimed has claimed Jim Carr Snr was left “confused and distraught” after Jimmy allegedly reached out for help – then cut contact again.

A source told MailOnline how Jimmy is said to have asked his dad to “take on a burden.”

The source said: “It was just before Christmas in 2017 and Jimmy rang his dad to ask him for some help with a problem he had.

“He had been supporting someone close to him but just couldn’t continue doing so.

“Jim has never told me the full details preferring to keep it private but it was a big favour to ask and obviously Jimmy felt he had nowhere else to turn, given that he hadn’t spoken to his dad for that last 15 or 16-years prior to that phone call.

“He wanted Jim to take on the burden – which he duly did.

“But while Jim hoped this good deed could rekindle their relationship, Jimmy seemed to cut him off again.

“He didn’t call to thank him or anything, it was radio silence… which continues to this day.”

At the time source told MirrorOnline Jim had taken legal action and said: “The last thing Jim wanted to do was take his own son to court, but enough is enough.

“He’s sick and tired of this false characterisation of himself that is being presented.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back was this new book and some of the things he has been saying on podcasts.”

Jimmy previously told how he cut contact with his dad following the death of his mother Nora in 2001.
