Kelly Clarkson has called off her long-awaited Las Vegas residency, claiming she is suffering from vocal strain issues, just hours before she was slated to perform in the Sin City.

Kelly Clarkson has been left “devastated” after being forced to postpone the highly-anticipated launch of her Las Vegas residency, due to vocal strain issues from her intensive rehearsals.

The Grammy-winning artist – who left fans frustrated when she released new music back in May – was set to premiere her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas residency, on July 4 but in a last-minute announcement posted on Instagram, Clarkson said the physical demands of preparation had taken a toll on her voice.

The statement began, “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”

Clarkson continued, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”

She then added, “The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”

The postponement came just a few hours after Clarkson had posted behind-the-scenes photos from the venue with the caption. “TONIGHT!!” The abrupt change left many attendees disappointed, especially those who had traveled from afar to Las Vegas for opening night.

“Totally bummed that we flew all the way to Vegas only to find out that the show was cancelled 1 1/2 hours prior to show time,” one fan commented online. “So so sad!!”

Despite the roadbump, Clarkson plans to allegedly resume performances next weekend.

The residency continues through August, with additional dates in November.

NBCUniversal sources confirmed to The U.S. Sun that The Kelly Clarkson Show will not be impacted by the Vegas run.

“NBCUni worked with the Caesars group to make sure filming didn’t overlap,” an insider told the outlet. “Kelly’s show won’t be impacted by the residency.” The talk show is currently on summer hiatus and is expected to return in September.

Clarkson reportedly coordinated with producers to ensure her November tapings would proceed without issue.

“The Kelly Show is NBC’s number one daytime priority,” the source added. “There are big plans ahead.”
