Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has questioned how “important” the British Soap Awards are.
The actor, who plays Andy Sugden, doesn’t believe the awards are a “true reflection of talent”, stating his belief that the ITV soap has unfairly missed out in the past few years.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Kelvin said: “I don’t think the British Soap Awards are important at all.
“Every producer aims to win awards and win critical acclaim and prizes for the storyline and actors. That’s what they go for.”
“I’ve got no real aspiration to win any awards – I don’t think it’s a true reflection of talent. I just really don’t think they’re that important.
“I’ve wanted Emmerdale to win awards so many times when we’ve been so deserving, but we haven’t. It has been without doubt the best show for the past three years, maybe more.”
Ken McKay
“I don’t think they always necessarily showcase the best stuff. The recipients are certainly deserving but I don’t think the awards are always a true reflection.”
Meanwhile, the hunky actor recently admitted that even he gets nervous about stripping off on screen.
