Kelvin Fletcher ‘overwhelmed’ by life on new family farm
Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz Marsland have opened up about the “overwhelming” reality of running a farm, which they bought back in 2020.
The couple’s 120-acre land is on the edge of the Peak District National Park, where they juggle farming duties and parenting four children.
Speaking on James Martin’s Saturday Morning show today, Kelvin admitted running a farm is way harder than what he thought as he discussed the positive and negatives.
The ex Emmerdale star told the chef: “Without sounding too cliche, yes, it’s hard and it’s a challenge.
“As new entrants into farming, we’ve felt so overwhelmed at times, just thinking there’s too much information to take on.

“You have to be a vet, you have to be an accountant, a businessman, there’s so many things.
“But, there are moments of absolute bliss and joy and they are the simplest of moments.”
Giving an example, he added: “When I was in the lambing shed, I just sat in the field looking out with a view.”
Kelvin and his wife’s farming ups and downs were first documented in BBC’s Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure followed by their most recent ITV show Fletcher’s Family Farm.
Discussing the programme, he continued: “The reality is, there are challenges and you think is it worth it? It’s an uphill struggle.

“For us, it’s a genuine authentic capture of our lives,” he added of juggling the farm and their four children Marnie, six, Milo, four, and one-year-old twin boys, Maximus and Mateusz.
“We’re learning with everybody,” Liz chimed in.
Of their future, Kelvin said he wants to rear their native animals, sell them and enjoy the produce they create.
In a preview from the new series, the actor was left visibly shaking as he and Liz helped a sheep give birth.
The clip shows him pulling out the lamb himself while she tries to reassure the distressed animal.
After successfully delivering the lamb, Liz says to her spouse: “You saved it.”
Kelvin then stands back and looks to be in a state of shock, as his wife asks: “Are you shaking?”
He goes on to put his bloody hands up and says: “Well, it was just tense,” to which Liz added: “My heart is pounding.”
