Proving that he’s not just comfortable with shaking his hips on the dance floor, 2019 ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winner Kelvin Fletcher will again be working those hips, but in a very different way when he swaps the dancefloor for dirt in an AX celebrity minibike race at Manchester’s AO Arena this Saturday 22nd February.
As an avid fan of motocross, Kelvin knows what the sport is all about and will know the challenge ahead of him to race his first AX experience in front of a packed-out audience. His ‘Strictly’ win proved he can handle the pressure of a live environment and rise to the occasion, but it’s fair to say motocross carries significantly more risk.
“I’m really excited for Arenacross in Manchester this weekend!” says the former ‘Emmerdale’ star. “As a big motocross fan, this event truly showcases the excitement and thrill of the sport. I’ll be there with my family, definitely in awe of these world-class athletes.”
Kelvin, who now has his own TV reality show ‘Fletcher’s Family Farm’ on ITV X which follows himself and his family as new farmers in the Peak District, has been to watch an Arenacross event before but now he’ll have a very different view and experience by taking part. “I did ride a bit of motocross as a kid, but that was a long time ago and riding an Arenacross track with all the jumps is very different. Especially in front of a packed-out audience, but just like I learned with Strictly, you’ve just got to throw yourself into it, give it a go and enjoy it, so that’s what I’m going to do.”
All eyes will again be on him to seeing how he performs. Will the ’10 paddle’ come out on a wire-to-wire race win?!
The ‘Celebs go racing’ AX mini bike race will part of the 100th Night celebrations for the Arenacross Tour in Manchester where the British championship will be decided and it’s also the final qualifying round in ‘the race to Abu Dhabi’ for the Arenacross World Tour Finals so the race action will be awesome. No doubt the celebrity mini bike race will also be ‘interesting and entertaining!’
