Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager joked about recreating the viral kiss from Adrien Brody and Halle Berry on the Toady Show.
Guthrie joined Hager as a guest host for ‘Today with Jenna & Friends’ Monday. Hager has had a variety of celebrity guests fill the co-anchor spot on the 10 a.m. show, including Taraji P Henson, Scarlett Johansson and Eva Longoria.
The co-host discussed the Oscars, which took place Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. While Adrien Brody made headlines as the winner of Best Actor, he also caught people’s attention with a passionate moment with Halle Barry.
On the red carpet, Berry can be seen running up to Brody and planting a kiss on his lips. The stunt calls back to 2003, when Brody first won an Oscar for ‘The Pianist,’ and he kissed Barry, who was presenting the award.
The actress joked that the surprise lip lock was ‘payback’ for when Brody had pulled her in for a theatrical kiss in 2003. While the move initially gained criticism back then, she let people know it was okay.

On the Today Show, Guthrie and Hager discussed the smooch, with the latter adding that Berry once came on the show.
Hager joked: “I watched it over and over again because that’s what you do when you’ve been married 20 years… Maybe she’ll come back and we can recreate that.”
“You could recreate the kiss?” Guthrie questioned. She then prompted, “I just, never mind. I just had a thought.”

Laughing, Hager seemed to know what Guthrie was going to say. She added, “I know, you can’t say it.” But Guthrie did anyway.
“I was like, should we kiss?” Guthrie asked jokingly. They too laughed together, then made sure audiences knew it was a joke.
Guthrie said, “No, I’m kidding, I’m kidding! I want to come back to the show!” with Hager pointing out, “Yeah seriously ,my mom’s watching! And so is your’s.”
“Oh God, even more horrifying. Nancy and Laura! We won’t,” Guthrie said.
