Kylie Kelce has offered a public show of support for Taylor Swift after the singer was roundly booed at the Super Bowl in New Orleans last Sunday. When Swift first appeared on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome, she was met with emphatic booing in the sold-out stadium as she cheered Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on against the Eagles. The singer looked surprised by the reaction and Erin Andrews, who was working for Fox Sports on the night, hit out at those targeting the singer. ‘I feel bad for the most famous, amazing woman in the world who f***ing gets booed at the Super Bowl,’ she said on her ‘Calm Down’ podcast.
‘Get out of here… I mean, she probably holds the record in every stadium – the attendance record in the Superdome as an individual, as one individual standing up on the stage rocking the world.’ The quote was shared by Sports Illustrated and Kylie Kelce liked the post – even though it was her fellow Eagles fans who would have been booing the singer. Kylie was sat in the same suite as Swift at the game, although her and husband Jason Kelce had split allegiances given the Chiefs were playing the Philadelphia Eagles. Kylie has supported the team all her life, while Jason played 13 years for the organization before retiring after last season. Swift, meanwhile, previously said she was an Eagles fan before she met Kelce – which might have been another reason for the response from the Philly fanbase.
Speaking to the crowd in Philadelphia in 2023 on her Eras Tour, she explained that a lyric referencing an Eagles shirt was in reference to the team and not the band. ‘I did see the debate,’ Swift told the crowd. ‘I have a lyric that says, “With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door”. ‘I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles and I love the band the Eagles . ‘Guys, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team.’ But since meeting Kelce, she has become a huge Chiefs fans over the last two seasons. The singer was also mocked by President Trump for getting booed. Trump, who became the first sitting President to attend a Super Bowl, taunted her on Truth Social after the Chiefs lost 40-22 against the Eagles. ‘The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!’ he wrote.
