Liz Marsland, wife of former ITV Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, has shared the “crazy” reaction they received after offering a renovated cottage on their farm for holiday rentals. In a recent episode of the popular ITV show Fletchers’ Family Farm, she expressed that the success of Stag Cottage had “gone above and beyond our expectations”.
The show, now in its second series, airs every Sunday morning on ITV1, providing viewers with an insight into the Fletcher family’s life near Leek, under the shadow of the Roaches – not too far from the Peak District and Derbyshire borders. The couple live on their vast 120-acre farm with their four young children.
Fans have seen Kelvin, who once played farmer Andy Sugden in Emmerdale, take on real-life farming responsibilities. He explained in a recent episode: “Like a lot of farmers we have to diversify to generate extra income to support our livestock and this year one of our most profitable streams has come from our cottage that we renovated and converted for people to stay in.”
Kelvin humorously referred to the cottage, located near Macclesfield on the edge of the Peak District, as his wife’s “baby”, jesting that if he can’t locate her on the farm, he knows exactly where she’ll be – “spending her time on her new obsession”, reports Stoke on Trent Live.
Liz added: “Since we put the cottage up for rent as a holiday let, it has just gone crazy. We put it online for about two days, and the year literally sold out. So, we’ve now got bookings going into 2025. It’s just gone above and beyond our expectations.”

Stag Cottage, available through Sykes Holiday Cottages, has been accumulating a series of five-star accolades from guests. Last month, Rich left high praise: “The cottage had everything we needed and we received fast and helpful advice and support from Liz. I’d recommend Stag Cottage as an idyllic, quiet and cosy home for anyone’s restful holiday. Nearby we found nice villages, pubs and amazing walks. Many thanks for the opportunity to enjoy your lovely home.”
Another guest in November was equally impressed by the property, stating: “It feels so homely as soon as you step inside. Very cosy and welcoming, beautifully decorated. A real gem! Very comfortable beds. We love how quiet it is. Kelvin and Liz were lovely and friendly. We would love to stay again! Thanks from Jules and Chris.”
