Sunday mornings are extra special in Martha Stewart’s home because everyone gets a taste of what the Yes, Chef! star is cooking.
Stewart has made a routine of making breakfast for the entire crew that helps run her 152-acre Bedford, New York farm, a tradition that she holds near and dear to her heart as she gets the low-down on the nature of the gardens, the activity within the stables, and gets updates on various fixtures around the farm.
Stewart and her Yes, Chef! co-host José Andrés talked about hosting during a recent interview with People, where they dished details on the last meal they prepared for a group. While Andrés had the honor of recently hosting Stewart and her crew at his home, Stewart spoke about her Sunday ritual of cooking up breakfast for the gardeners, groundskeepers, and staff who help keep her expansive estate running beautifully.
Stewart has been the hostess with the mostest for decades, so you can bet her farmhands aren’t dragging their feet when heading to work on Sundays.

When asked about the last meal she cooked for a group, Stewart was happy to discuss her tradition of cooking her employees’ breakfast during the weekend. “My answer is interesting because it was on Sunday, and I invited everyone who was working at the farm,” Stewart told People. “I usually do this on Sunday, the guys in the stable, the grounds guys, and my security guy. I invite them to my kitchen to have breakfast.”
Can you imagine a brunch break with lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart? And from the sound of the spread, Stewart’s colleagues are eating well. “We make them delicious cappuccinos, we make fresh juice, my homemade yogurt with farm honey,” Stewart shared. “And then I scramble lots and lots of eggs, usually, and put them on muffins or biscuits that I make.”
Stewart continued, “And then they stay for their half-hour allotted time for breakfast, and then they have to go back to work. But it really makes a huge difference because they get to sit in my kitchen, and we get to talk about what’s going on at the farm.”
“I’ve always loved making breakfast because you get them in and you get them out — you get the rest of the day to yourself,” Stewart concluded with a laugh.
Martha Stewart loves baking biscuits for a “really good” breakfast

As a breakfast aficionado, Stewart has dozens of mouthwatering recipes up her sleeves, but when it comes to hosting friends, it’s hard to beat the adaptability of a biscuit. In July 2024, Stewart shared some of her favorite breakfast recipes on her official YouTube channel, serving coveted tips for elevating morning meals. As Stewart shared her recipe for herb-flavored buttermilk biscuits, she hyped up the breakfast treat as the king of versatility.
“Why do I love buttermilk biscuits? Because they’re light, they’re flaky, they’re eminently edible,” Stewart gushed. “They make great sandwiches, or they’re just great with butter and jam. And herb flavored, these are so fantastic, and they are phenomenal with sausage or bacon.”
Stewart feels you can’t go wrong with biscuits when hosting a group of hungry mouths. “When I have people over for breakfast or brunch, I like to make biscuits,” Stewart explained. “Biscuits with poached eggs and a little bit of hollandaise sauce is a really good breakfast.”
Sounds delicious, especially if Stewart is at the culinary helm. Don’t miss the Yes, Chef! series premiere on Monday, April 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
