According to a source, former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid is not going to take the abrupt cancellation of her show lying down and is ready to take on the network
Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid is not going quietly after being ousted by the network.
Joy’s program The ReidOut was abruptly cancelled after she reportedly held a clandestine meeting with other anchors including Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Nicole Wallace to strategize against the network’s shift away from left-leaning politics. The program’s final episode aired on February 25.
Over the years, Joy was vocal about her stance on Donald Trump and other hot button issues and was allegedly met with pushback from network execs. A source who spoke with RadarOnline says: “She’s livid, and she knows everything. She’s ready to burn the house down.”
The 56-year-old news anchor had been with the network for over a decade and is not going down without a fight. The source added: “MSNBC wants her to sign an NDA, but that’s not going to happen. If they think they are going to silence her, they better think again.”

MSNBC’s new president Rebecca Kutler made a statement in the wake of Joy’s firing: “Joy Reid is leaving the network and we thank her for her countless contributions over the years. Her work has been recognized with several esteemed honors, including most recently, the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series. In the coming weeks, rotating anchors will host the hour.”
The firing sent shockwaves throughout the network, with fellow anchor Rachel Maddow speaking out during her own program The Rachel Maddow Show, calling the cancellation a “bad mistake” and pointing out the “unnerving” reality that “two nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows.”
Joy had often spoken out on air against Donald Trump, comparing his presidency to fascism and blaming VP Kamala Harris’s loss on “white women” who “did not show up for her.” The anchor stands by her statements, saying: “I am not sorry. I am not sorry that I stood up for those things.”
After the election The ReidOut’s viewership fell almost 50%, though cable news networks saw a dip in viewership across the board. Low viewership has led to mass layoffs at major networks like MSNBC, CNN, and NBC.
According to one insider, it seems as though Joy is not going to take the sudden firing lying down.
