There was a worrying hint about John Sugden’s next victim on Emmerdale during Tuesday’s episode.

K!ller John was seen giving a sinister stare at another villager on the ITV soap, after he was told something he did not agree with. Not liking what he was hearing he assumed he was being punished for something, and it was clear he was not happy with the person in question.

Liam Cavanagh spoke with John about their work at the GP surgery, with John being a medic there. Recently in Ella Forster’s absence John has had to man the reception desk.

In the latest episode Liam informed him that for the time being, John would be moved from his medic role to being on the desk pretty much full-time. John was clearly bothered by this suggesting his skills were not being put to good use.

He didn’t see the reception job has being what he was qualified for or for what he wanted to do at the surgery. So when Liam suggested with them being short-staffed John needed to move to the desk for a bit, he was clearly furious.

He brought up the recent review into his care at the surgery after Liam realised he had made mistakes. Liam was furious when he misdiagnosed Kerry Wyatt, and John was warned he needed to be reviewed.

This was scrapped when John saved Jacob Gallagher’s life after he suffered an allergic reaction, while of course no one knows John caused it on purpose to play the hero. But the way he spoke to Liam and the look on his face certainly hinted he now had an issue with the doctor.

Liam tried to smooth things over with a drink and tried to explain why the move was made, but John immediately got defensive. He accused Liam of making the decision based on his recent error, questioning if Liam really had put it behind them or not.

The pair had been out for a drink with Liam wanting to let him know about everything, before all became clear. Liam revealed they were struggling to hold things together but could not afford a new receptionist, and that’s why they wanted John to “temporarily bridge the gap” to help them out.

John said: “I’m a highly trained medical professional,” to which Liam said: “I’m so sorry to even have to ask. Until we secure the funding we’re at a bit of a bind.” John then called him “a liar” suggesting there was motivation behind the request.

He said it was all down to what happened with Kerry to which Liam denied this. He then said: “We are just asking that you step up for a few weeks as our most junior member of staff.” John didn’t exactly agree but he knew he had no choice, while he was shown giving Liam a very dark look – so is Liam his next target amid an attack later this week?
