NO COMING BACK Emmerdale Confirms Debbie Dingle’s FINAL Departure As Charley Webb Says GOODBYE To Iconic Role
Fan hopes that Charley Webb might return to Emmerdale have been dashed by the soap.
Rumours have been rife that Charley Webb could return to the soap to play Debbie once more. However, the latest episode of Emmerdale has put paid to that idea with a devastating Debbie update.
Here we take a look at Charley Webb’s Emmerdale exit and why a return is seemingly now off the table.

Why did Charley Webb leave Emmerdale?
Debbie Dingle left the regular cast of Emmerdale in 2019 when she moved to Scotland. Lisa left Debbie and Belle a garage in her will, and Debbie decided she wanted to make a go of it.
After tearful goodbyes with daughter Sarah and mum Charity, Debbie headed north of the border. She has been mentioned frequently, with the likes of Cain, Aaron and Zak all visiting her off screen.
Debbie returned briefly at the end of 2020/start of 2021 to cause some havoc after it was revealed she was Al Chapman’s mystery woman. After plotting with Al’s fiancée to get revenge on the cheat, she headed back to Scotland with son Jack.
In 2021, a source told The Sun that Charley was closing the door on Emmerdale for good following then husband Matthew Wolfenden’s race row.
They said: “Charley won’t be going back. The past few months have given her time to think about the future and it is one that doesn’t involve Emmerdale.
“Matthew being caught up in the row on set fuelled her decision to step away. It’s time for a new adventure for Charley.”
In 2023, Charley reflected on her Emmerdale exit, also making it clear she had no plans to return. She told whattowatch.com: “It felt like the right time for me personally to make that jump from Emmerdale and I don’t have any regrets about it.
“I’m ambitious to push myself and it’s just about choosing the right projects from now on. It’s hard to say no to work, but I trust my agent and I trust the process. Hopefully, I’ve made some good choices so far.”

Emmerdale gives Debbie Dingle update
During Thursday’s episode, Debbie’s daughter Sarah Sugden went in search of someone to confide in about her potential cancer diagnosis.
But with everyone busy, she called her mum. However, before Sarah could share her worries, Debbie got in first. Sarah’s face turned to one of shock as she said, “I don’t know what to say.”
An upset Sarah then went to see her gran. In what was probably not the best choice of words, Sarah said, “It’s mum, she’s gone.”
But Debbie isn’t dead, she’s just emigrated to Australia. Charity was confused by the news, not believing Debbie would do that without telling anyone. “Nobody just emigrates to Australia just like that, do they? The little cow must have known about this for ages.”
Sarah then shared that Debbie and Chris (the man Debbie has been living with) got married 3 weeks ago. Charity fumed at the lack of an invite and immediately got on the phone to Cain.
Cain managed to extract further details from Chris and Debbie and informed Charity that Debbie just wants a clean break from her past.
Debbie’s Australian departure seemingly puts an end to the speculation that Charley Webb will return to the soap.
