EASTENDERS legend Cheryl Fergison has revealed a huge mistake after leaving the BBC soap.

Cheryl, 59, played fan favourite Heather Trott from 2007 until the character was killed off in 2012.

Last year, the actress opened up about her money struggles after bowing out of the soap.

Over a decade on from her departure, Cheryl addressed having made a career mistake in the years since.

She told MailOnline: “I admit I have turned down a lot of things to my detriment, things that probably would have helped my career and, maybe, I would do things differently the second time around.

“But even in EastEnders I did not want to act like the big Number One. To me it was just a job because that’s what I am, a performer.”

Previously, the actress emotionally told how she was forced to turn to a food bank and claim benefits for help.

Cheryl recently flogged tickets to fans to see her perform at the opening of a Chinese takeaway.

Posting on social media, the former soap star said she’d sing for diners at the The Dragon Lounge in Blackpool.

Cheryl serenaded customers with her vocals on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2.

Meanwhile, the new takeaway replaced The Great Fortune House which was closed down due to multiple health code violations

Ahead of the opening, Cheryl shared on social media: “Hi everyone, now then, first and second of February you know where you need to be.

“The Dragon Lounge in Cleveleys, 120 Victoria Road West, it’s a new business, I’ll be hosting all weekend, it’s Chinese New Year.”

She added: “I’ll be hosting both events, it will be a singing, karaoke and quiz. Oh yeah, general knowledge quiz, fantastic.

Ross Kemp – Kemp will reprise his role as Grant Mitchell, a character he first played in 1990. The BBC has described Kemp’s storyline as “explosive”. Kemp said it was an “absolute honour” to return to the show.

Other aspects of the 40th anniversary celebration include: A wedding between fan favorites, A huge explosion at the Queen Vic, and A live interactive episode.

“Please come along, you don’t have to book you can if you want to, you can if you want to but you don’t have to book come along, we will fit you in no matter what.”

Elsewhere, Cheryl recently begged her fans to “keep asking” TV bosses to hire her.

One of her followers had suggested she could work on EastEnders’ rival soap opera, Coronation Street.

She replied: “Keep asking them please it’s just up the road that would be fantastic.”
