Jenna Bush Hager said she has cut off some “fake friends” from her life as she reflected on how relationships evolve as people grow up.

The TV personality, 43, made the admission while speaking to her co-host Tyra Banks on her show, Today with Jenna & Friends. During Wednesday’s episode, Jenna mentioned an interview Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, 50, gave recently, during which she said that growing older has deepened her appreciation for friendships built on honesty, durability and understanding.

Jenna, who has been married to her husband, Henry Hager, since 2008 and has three children with him, shared, “She has outgrown fake friends, she says, ‘I just don’t have time for falsehood.’ Which is interesting, I do think that as you age, some of the things that felt good when you were younger don’t feel good.”

Tyra, 51, agreed, saying, “Totally. I used to have so many friends, and now I have two close friends. I bet they’re watching like, ‘Am I one of those?'” Jenna also said she is on the same page as she asked the America’s Next Top Model host, “Are you still buddies with the 90s supermodels?” to which Tyra replied, “I never was!”

The former model then went to explain how she looked up at women such as Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington at the beginning of her career. She then opened up on her friendship with Kate Moss, saying she always looked up to her even though they had different social circles at the height of their careers.

Tyra then recalled a moment she shared with Kate at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, where they were both modeling, saying, “My little ‘unpopular girl in the cafeteria self’ was like, ‘Kate Moss is saying hi to me!’ It was a weird thing because she was cool back then and I wasn’t. I was a supermodel, but not in the clique.” Tyra then said that the modeling world often felt fake as she compared it to “Halloween” – and said she didn’t like to pretend.

In her interview with Women’s Health, Hilary said that she no longer has the energy for false friendships – and only authentic people remain in her life. She explained, “I just don’t have time for falsehood in any way. And a lot of people don’t like to be completely honest with people because they’re afraid of either hurting someone’s feelings or they’re afraid of confrontation. The relationships that are important to me are the ones that are willing to be honest and real.”

Hilary added that in addition to cutting people off, she has also found new excitement in her career, embracing the opportunities that are thrown her way. “Most people might be like, ‘Aren’t you worried that you’re now 50 and there’s not a lot of jobs?’ I’m like, ‘No, I have more offers now than I’ve ever had,'” she said, while pointing out that many actors over the age of 40 have been nominated for Academy Awards over the past 10 years. She said, “It’s an incredibly exciting time.”

Last week Jenna, who is George W. Bush’s daughter and George H.W. Bush’s granddaughter, revealed that when at the White House as a child, she got herself involved in some tomfoolery. On the April 11 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, the TV host played a game of “Fake off” with guest host Bowen Yang, and the two took turns telling each other fun facts about themselves. The other had to then guess if the story they were telling was true or false.

Jenna went first and started off the bit with a story about how, when she was at the White House as a child in first grade, while her grandfather George H.W. Bush was President, she faked her own kidnapping. “In the first grade, I faked my own kidnapping, but my plan was derailed by Secret Service,” she explained. Bowen sat in disbelief, as Jenna encouraged him to ask questions to figure out if she was telling the truth or “faking it,” saying, “My plan was derailed – do you have any follow-ups?”

“What was the plan of the kidnapping?” Bowen asked. “Well, a man and a van with some puppies and some candy…I did the 80s, I did the 80s story, because I was caught swinging, I stayed too late after school, and I thought my mom was going to be mad at me because she was wondering where I was,” she responded.

Bowen responded with an anecdote of his own, about the time he called the police because his parents wouldn’t let him go to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire release party. “It was a whole thing,” he added. Bowen then guessed that Jenna’s story was real, leaving her to reveal that it was indeed true. “And my mom knew I was lying, but the Secret Service did not, so I had to go and apologize,” Jenna explained. “This was around the same time as Home Alone, so I might have been inspired,” she added.
