Eamonn Holmes has been issued a warning, as he’s understood to be “clinging on to fame” while presenting on GB News. The 65-year-old revealed in recent days that his tax row with HMRC has cost him more than £1 million and two homes, and claimed he’s being made to fork up a further £250,000 for an outstanding bill.

The mounting pressure is said to be impacting the former This Morning presenter, who, according to the Daily Mail, is “increasingly clashing with colleagues” at GB News and is often “in a foul mood”.

He’s also been battling a raft of health problems in recent years and going through a divorce from fellow presenter Ruth Langsford. While Eamonn has moved on with 43-year-old Katie Alexander, a source for the publication has claimed he’s in a “difficult place” and “clearly struggling” with the mounting pressure.

The source has also alleged that some of Eamonn’s friends are encouraging him to move back to Ireland and “be a star there”.

They added to the Daily Mail: “He will have a much nicer life. But it seems like he’s clinging on to the fame in England. It’s all very sad.”

The Northern Irish broadcaster accused HMRC of being “tax thieves” and alleged that they had “ruined” him during a particularly difficult part of his life.

Opening up about his tax issues, Eamonn candidly shared: “They still want another quarter of a million pounds off me… I’ve paid them more than a million already, but they won’t stop. It’s still going on and they want another £250,000. They’ve ruined me.

“They came after me and said, ‘We always said that you were self-employed? Well, we’ve thought about it, you’re not, so we want ten years of back taxes and national insurance.” So they basically, at the most vulnerable time of my life, wrecked me financially.”

“I’ve had to sell my house in Belfast. I had a place in Portugal and had to sell it. I still owe them a quarter of a million quid even now. I went back and appealed it twice and lost it twice. And lawyers’ fees are absolutely horrendous.”
