Before the time skip, one power in One Piece was considered to be the epitome but it slowly lost its importance and might not have any hope.
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is a story that constantly evolves and grows as it moves from one arc to another. It develops the narrative even further and introduces twists that make it even more enticing than before. And while every arc sees this development, the biggest one came through the time skip, when the timeline of the One Piece storyline shifted two years.

Fans saw next-level growth in the Straw Hat Pirates, and many plot structures of the story were significantly twisted and changed in a way that made the story even more entertaining. However, not everything turned out to be good after the time skip.
After the time skip, the concept of Haki grew even further and introduced new elements that got placed within the narrative as a new form of power. But they also ruined one of the already established Devil Fruit types, which was the rarest and strongest one in One Piece. The introduction of new Haki abilities affected the power scaling of Logia Devil Fruits and made them look less special in One Piece.
The rarity of Logia Devil Fruits in One Piece
When One Piece started, the concept and power of Devil Fruits were quite rare within the story, and only a limited number of characters possessed these powers. However, as the story moved forward, these powers became more frequent and even got their own categories: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. Out of the three, Logia was the rarest and strongest Devil Fruit type in One Piece.
The rarity of Logia came from the fact that the users of the Devil Fruit could transform their bodies into an element of nature and also create and control those elements at their own will. As they were a part of nature, their strength was incomparable, and they were believed to be one of the best powers in the whole One Piece universe, aside from Conqueror’s Haki.

Not only that, their feat was also reflected in the fact that the One Piece storyline has not yet revealed a Logia Devil Fruit awakening even though most of the strong characters of the series possess this power. There is still an element of mystery in these Devil Fruit types that Eiichiro Oda will most likely explore in the future of One Piece.
Time skip ruined the rarity of Logia Devil Fruits
While Logia Devil Fruits still hold significance in the One Piece storyline, their importance compared to other powers has been decreased. This happened soon after the time skip as Oda decided to explore the concepts of Haki and make them the prevalent power in One Piece. From their types to their advanced techniques, Haki became the center of power scaling.

Because of this, the Logia Devil Fruits lost their place in One Piece. They were once considered a legitimate threat, and their rarity added substance to their essence in the story. In fact, defeating a Logia Devil Fruit user required trickery and planning, which added complexity.
Once Haki took center stage, and Oda pointed out that Haki users could land an attack on Logia Devil Fruit powers, it was over for them. But there is still a little bit of hope for them considering the fact that their awakening is still a mystery that might bring the Devil Fruits on par with Haki in One Piece.
One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
