Emmerdale viewers were left in shock this week when it was revealed that Robert Sugden and Kim Tate have teamed up and we’re so here for it.
Robert Sugden was seen spinning Moira a web of lies about how much his family’s farming legacy means to him in an attempt to get her to sell the former Sugden fields back to him at a discounted rate.
We then saw Kim Tate opening some champagne to celebrate her latest business deal – with none other than Robert. Kim told him that she liked the way he operates, and he responded with that classic Robert Sugden smirk as he informed her he’s only just getting warmed up.
We can’t wait to see what the pair get up to next and think they have the potential to be one of the best duos ever.

When two schemers collide
Back in the day Kim Tate was the queen when it came to scheming and backstabbing. Though we still see glimpses of Kim the bitch, dare we say she’s gone a bit soft of late.
Kim has the likes of adultery, torture and theft on her CV – amongst a lot else. One of her top moments was when she callously watched her husband Frank die before cooly applying lipstick while looking in her compact mirror.
Kim nearly repeated that act when recent husband Will had a heart attack, before attempting to help him. Kim had previously blackmailed him in a nod to the old Kim. But in general, modern Kim has been a bit too nice.
Robert also has a history of deceit and nobody is safe from his knife – who can forget the love triangle with his brother’s partner Katie and then holding Andy at gunpoint?
Robert recently stole Ross and Lewis’s weed stash so he could sell it at a profit. And it’s not even the first time he has stolen Ross’ weed!
Robert is ruthless and his manipulation of Moira, who has helped him immensely since his release from prison, reminds us what a formidable force he is.
Now put those two super villains together and we’re in for a whole heap of fun and deceit! The village better watch out!

Kim to take over the village
While Kim is already pretty powerful, her empire could be bigger – and with Robert’s help, it will be.
Recently, we’ve seen Caleb Miligan in competition with Kim as they both try and grow their businesses. With Caleb having acquired new warehouses, he’s clearly not finished.
When Caleb first arrived in the village, he and son Nicky hid their true identities as they attempted to bring Kim down as revenge for Kim’s treatment of Caleb’s dad Frank.
While a truce has been reached, the pair continue to try and score points against each other and the battle between them is far from over.
Having Robert secretly scheming behind the scenes will help Kim to expand her empire and take over the local area field by field, while Caleb and the locals can only watch. Kim and Robert together would be a formidable force in business.

Potential storylines and interactions for Robert and Kim in Emmerdale
The world is literally the Emmerdale scriptwriters oyster. Because let’s face it, there is literally nothing that Robert and Kim, between them, won’t do.
As a duo, they open up even more doors. Criminals work best in pairs after all, when they have someone to bounce off. And let’s face it, there haven’t been many duos with a list of crime and betrayal quite as long as this pair.
Which brings us to the interactions between the pair of them. Both Robert and Kim are smart people, so that gives scope for them to orchestrate clever schemes.
There is also the option for comedy as the pair joke over how they’re managing to pull the wool over the eyes of their victims.

A second fan wrote on X: “We can’t wait to see where this story with Kim and Robert goes! What a fantastic twist!” While a third added: “Kim Tate and Robert Sugden joining forces is exactly what Emmerdale needs.”
A fourth fan wrote: “Ahhh a Robert and Kim allegiance,” alongside a meme instructing everyone to ‘stay calm.’
