Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany has given birth following a long pregnancy. with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback welcoming his third child – and continuing an interesting tradition
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany have welcomed daughter Golden Raye – continuing an intriguing pattern of naming their children after metals.
With the Chiefs coming off a bye ahead of their playoff clash with the Houston Texans this weekend, Mahomes and Brittany have welcomed their third child, a daughter. The couple have named her Golden Raye, with a trend clear to see.
The duo are already parents to daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and son Bronze, 2. It seems the Mahomes clan are naming their children after various metals, which may pose a problem given gold is traditionally associated with winning and success.
Before the Chiefs secured a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC, Mahomes told Netflix host Kay Adams that the Chiefs’ performances on the field were “stressing” out Brittany amid her pregnancy. He was desperate to have his third child during the bye week when he could be solely focused on family.
“Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” the 29-year-old told Adams. “So I got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games. Hopefully God works the right way and we can have that baby on ‘the bye’ week somewhere, and then everything will work out perfectly.”
In his post-game interview, he added: “I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get her the number one seed so we can go have that baby. So we got that number one seed.”
At the time, Brittany re-shared the clip and claimed her husband was “always keeping his promises.” The couple confirmed the birth of their baby daughter in a touching Instagram post.

The Chiefs locking up the No. 1 seed presented an ideal scenario for Mahomes. He was rested in Week 18 and sat out of Super Wild Card weekend, and will enjoy a rest of 22 days when he returns to action against the Texans.
This allowed Mahomes to fully rest up as he had been battling a high ankle sprain in recent weeks. But the three-time Super Bowl champion could also focus on his family given the imminent birth, which has now happened with the quarterback able to spend time with Brittany.
While they will be happy for their icon, Chiefs fans will hope Mahomes’ attention turns to the task at hand. The back-to-back Super Bowl champions host the Texans at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 19.
