Craig Melvin’s wife has given fans a glimpse into her family life with The Today Show host Craig – as they shared a proud moment for their son.
Lindsay Czarniak was so proud about their son’s sporting achievements, she shared the news with fans. The mom-of-two explained that Craig, who replaced Hoda Kotb on the Today show earlier this year, coaches Delano’s basketball team and their final game of the season was huge.
She wrote on Instagram: “They were playing the best team in the league which was also undefeated. I felt goosebumps like when I covered George Mason make it to the Final Four watching them pull off the upset. I may have shed a tear.”
Lindsay, who is also mom to their daughter Sybil said: “The other team is full of great kids and masterfully coached but Melvin instilled a belief in his group that they could do it AND THEY DID. The gym erupted bc of the underdog storyline and I could barely hold my phone still.”

The doting mom was bursting with pride for the other team too. Lindsay said: “What a thrill and a blessing to see these kids accomplish a goal that seemed so out of reach. It may have been rec basketball but they will remember this forever.”
Meanwhile TV viewers have been delighted to see a lot more of Craig on their screens. Craig Melvin has said it was an “honor” to be asked to step in and replace Hoda Kotb on the Today show.
Hoda stepped down in January after almost 18 years on the program, having made the decision to leave when she turned 60 last summer. Craig had been working as a news anchor for Today and co-hosted the show’s third hour.
He now appears alongside Savannah Guthrie in the mornings and has opened up about how it’s going so far. “There are so few truly venerable institutions left in television, and being part of one isn’t something I take lightly. It’s the professional honor of a lifetime,” he gushed.
Craig said he never thought he would make it to the popular morning segment. “But then one day, I got the call that Hoda Kotb was leaving, and I just thought, ‘Wow, this might actually be happening,'” he revealed.
