Strictly contestant Wynne Evans has opened up about the “nasty” injury he suffered earlier this year.
Wynne, 53, was paired up with pro star Katya Jones during their 2024 run on the BBC One dance series. They made it to Blackpool Week, eliminated with 31 points despite not being bottom of the leaderboard.

Wynne’s Strictly scandal explained
Opera singer Wynne went on to be a part of the Strictly live tour at the start of 2025. However, within weeks of the new year beginning, Wynne found himself mired in controversy following an inappropriate remark he made about co-stars Janette Manrara and Jamie Borthwick.
Wynne’s participation in the live tour came to an abrupt end, and he issued an apology. He said at the time: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
Since then, it has emerged Wynne has endured a broken foot for several months.

‘A really nasty break’
Speaking with fans on Instagram, Wynne was asked yesterday (Tuesday April 23) whether he has been “okay”.
He responded: “I’m okay, it’s been tough, but the truth will win.” He also told another fan who said they were missing Wynne and his laugh: “Let’s hope we’re laughing again soon.”
Can’t run at the moment since breaking my foot in January.
Wynne also revealed he hasn’t been running recently. That’s because, he explained: “Can’t run at the moment since breaking my foot in January.”
He added about his recovery: “Not brilliant, but was a really nasty break.”

Message to fans
Today (Wednesday April 23), Wynne followed up his replies with another message for fans. He cheerily told them: “I just had a biscuit. It was lush. Well actually it was like one of those Rich Teas so very, very bland but I really did enjoy it. Surprisingly enjoyed it.”
Wynne continued: “I wanted to jump on and say thank you so much for all the gorgeous messages in the last 24 hours. And indeed the thousands I’ve had over the last few months.
“It’s meant the absolute world to me to know I’ve got your support. So let’s keep the Wynners going strong and I’ll see you soon. We’re together apart, so we’re never far away. Love you.”
