RUMOURS Emmerdale star John Sugden Oliver Farnworth ‘TO LEAVE AFTER JUST A YEAR’
Emmerdale’s Oliver Farnworth is reportedly set to leave the ITV soap after just one year on our screens as John Sugden. The actor joined Emmerdale last summer as John – who has become the latest k1||er to terrorise the Yorkshire town.
Now, John’s time is up in the village, according to The Sun. “It’s the beginning of the end for John. He’s got away with so much but he’s about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is,” a source told the publication.
“Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that’s rapidly approaching.” They added that he’s “loved his time” on the show and there’s “plenty of twist and turns” yet to come before is exit. It comes after Emmerdale fans were shocked to discover top music star once appeared on ITV soap.

The Mirror has approached ITV for comment. Last week, Emmerdale fans began speculating that John’s time on the ITV soap would be coming to an end – and even had a theory as to how it will happen.
We’ve watched as John has gotten away with the murder of Nate Robinson, the attack on Aidan Moore and leaving Owen to d1e. Meanwhile, it’s rumoured that Mackenzie Boyd is being k1||ed off, making him the next victim of k1||er John.
With that in mind, many think that Cain, Charity and Moira Dingle will team up to take him down. “John will have k1||ed Cain’s son, Moira’s brother and Charity’s husband,” a fan wrote on social media.
“And you really don’t want to cross those three. There is no way he is getting out of Emmerdale alive.”
In other Emmerdale news, star Isabel Hodgins revealed last week that she is expecting with her first child with husband Adam Whitehead.
The actor, who plays Victoria Sugden on the soap, told OK! Magazine: “It’s exciting but also scary, because it has happened so fast and it’s our first time.
“Originally, we booked a wedding for 2026, but then I realised I didn’t want to wait that long to start a family. But I also wanted to be married first, so I kept changing the goal posts, but this was always the plan!”
The pair married in Manchester in May, with her co-star Eden Taylor Draper and school friend Shannon Moran as bridesmaids. Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley, Zoe Henry, Mark Jordan, Laura Norton and Danny Miller were also in attendance for the big day.
