BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst has shared a heartfelt update with fans regarding her grief following her father’s d3ath in July.

The BBC favourite revealed that her dad, Chris, d!ed on Wednesday (July 2), with Nina, 44, and her loved ones remaining at his bedside until his final moments.

Nina had previously revealed that Chris received a dementia diagnosis in 2022, and she had been candid about how the family had been supporting him through his illness.

During the summer months, Nina admitted that she “can’t quite accept” her father’s passing and revealed the touching final moments they shared together.

She shared a moving photograph on Instagram showing her clasping her dad’s hand, delivering a heartfelt tribute to him.

Taking to Instagram this week, Nina offered a candid update to her 47.9K followers regarding her bereavement as she posted a video of a bath being drawn alongside an emotional message.

The message stated: “Self care… it wasn’t the bath that made me feel better it was that I thought I was someone worth running a bath for” accompanied by a heart emoji.

Nina expanded on her thoughts in the post’s caption: “This week I decided to seek professional help for my grief. At the end of the first counselling session she asked, ‘has this done what you’d hoped?’

“I realised it had taken me a long time to make the call that I knew needed to happen, and that just by picking up the phone I had become stronger and more capable of looking after myself. I felt proud.

“Whenever I get in the bath I don’t stay there very long. But it is a statement to myself that I am allowed to take time for something that to me still feels luxurious and frivolous.

“The placebo of recognising a need and doing something about it is as big as the act”, she urged her followers: “Try it” with heart emojis.

Nina was inundated with messages of support, with one fan writing: “You are doing amazingly always astounded how professional you are reading the news and juggling a young family and all the dynamics involved you should be proud of yourself on many levels x thank you for sharing your stories with us love seeing your beautiful family grow and prosper x.”

Another follower commented: “What a fantastic post love ,and glad your feeling more confident and proud of yourself just like dad would be proud of his girl”, while another added: “Nina …. You are loved and all the love that surrounds you will carry you through this difficult time xxx” and yet another said: “Well done it can be so hard to ask for help. Thank you for sharing X”.
