SADNESS: Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter makes HEARTBREAKING STATEMENT
Star of Loose Women Janet Street-Porter has admitted she is sick of reading about certain health supplements in newspapers, as she shared an insight into her battle with glaucoma.
The television presenter, 78, told the Telegraph that despite her protestations about “ageing healthily”, she’ll still pay homage to “the health people” on a Saturday morning.

Speaking to the publication about what she does of a Saturday, the opinionated host said: “I have a full English. I’m sick of reading about ageing healthily in newspaper supplements. My partner Peter cooks it.
“He’ll do bacon and eggs from the local farm shop, tomatoes or mushrooms, occasionally black pudding. I’ll precede that with dark fruit: blueberries, black grapes, pomegranate seeds. That’s my homage to the health people.”
On her own health condition, glaucoma, Janet said she addresses it as part of her daily routine. She explained: “I have glaucoma, so I do eye drops twice a day.”
This isn’t the first time Janet has spoken about her glaucoma, a serious eye condition that can damage the optic nerve and potentially lead to vision loss.
However, she insisted to The i that the condition doesn’t affect her whilst driving.
She said: “An ITV programme this week highlighted the fact that 5.7 million pensioners have driving licences simply by completing a self-assessment form from the DVLA.
“Of course, this is open to abuse and there must be a better way to keep our roads safe. But then I discovered my own licence runs out at the end of this year, and so I must do everything in my power to keep it. I have glaucoma, but it doesn’t impact on my driving at all.”
Whilst Janet has been keeping an eye on her glaucoma, she has recently undergone surgery to have a second knee replacement operation, leading her to remark to the Metro that she’s annoyed she isn’t bionic.
What’s more, Janet places the blame for her knee and hip replacement surgery at the fact she did too much exercise when she was younger.

She explained: “There are things about getting older that are annoying. I had a hip replacement last year, sailed through that, got back to work.
“Before that, I’d had a knee replacement… and now I’ve got to have another knee replacement. I get annoyed that my body isn’t bionic.
“In my 20s and 30s, I was fit, and then I over-exercised. I overdid it, and the result has been my joints [have worn out]. Saying to people of my generation, ‘Listen, if you can walk and get a newspaper, that’s good enough.’ For f***’s sake, stop counting steps.”
