Savannah Guthrie recently appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends, serving as a guest host alongside Jenna Bush Hager. During her appearance, the two looked back on their time in the delivery rooms when they had their children. For her part, Guthrie shared she had something of a “rock star” approach to childbirth.
Today‘s Own Savannah Guthrie Was One Of Jenna Hager Bush’s More Recent Guest Hosts
Guthrie first started working with NBC News as a correspondent back in 2007, soon becoming a White House correspondent. In 2011, she would become a co-host on Today.
In her personal life, Guthrie married Michael Feldman in 2014. The same year, she gave birth to their first child, Vale. The couple would see the birth of their second child, Charley, in 2016.

Recently, Guthrie appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends as a guest host. As fans know, Jenna Bush Hager has been sharing co-hosting duties with a variety of guest hosts following the departure of Hoda Kotb earlier this year.
A clip of the scene was released on Instagram by both Guthrie herself and the show’s own account. As a caption wrote, “JBH and Savannah recall the things they did while they were pregnant and immediately after giving birth.”
During the episode, Guthrie reminisced on the birth of her first child, Vale, who was delivered via cesarean section. At the time, she shared, “I remember being in the delivery room. I just was waiting for sushi, a glass of wine.”
“I just started calling people, ‘Come over, come see the baby!’ That room was, like, as if Mötley Crüe in the ’80s had been there. When we left it was trashed.”
As shared by Entertainment Weekly, Mötley Crüe became infamous in their day for causing destruction as they toured. This was recounted in the 2001 book, The Dirt, which was adapted into a 2019 Netflix film. Such antics included throwing a bed out of a window and setting a mattress on fire.
Fans Noted That Guthrie & Hager Actually Had A Good Repertoire
As Guthrie continued, she had a surprising use for a part of the hospital toiletries. She shared, “We used — I’m not kidding — you know the urinal thing they have? I was like, ‘Get one of those, we’ll put a bunch of ice in it. We’ll chill the wine right in it,’”
In hindsight, Guthrie also noted she got lucky with the idea. As she explained, “It was amazing. It wasn’t a used urinal.”

This caused Hager to question, “Well, how do you know it wasn’t a used urinal?” Thinking back at her own childbirth experience Hager noted, “I believe [Jenna’s husband] Henry used that urinal in my room.”
She explained, “No, not the urinal. The plastic bin thing. You’re thinking I meant the urinal [in the bathroom.]”
