SH0CK: Doctor gives HEARTFELT ADVICE to Strictly’s Dianne Buswell after pregnancy NEWS
Dianne Buswell has reassured Strictly Come Dancing fans after receiving medical advice on how her pregnancy might affect her routines on the dancefloor. The 36-year-old Australian pro confirmed earlier this month that she and YouTuber Joe Sugg are expecting their first child together. Since then, her supporters have been quick to raise questions about whether she should continue performing some of the show’s more demanding lifts.
Speaking to comedian Chris McCausland on his Winning Isn’t Everything podcast, Dianne explained exactly what her doctor had told her following her pregnancy announcement.
She said: “Because we did quite a lot of lifts that were quite high impact. Well, look, I’m still doing everything that I did before. Obviously, with lifts, there’s just going to be a bit more caution.
“But my doctor said that everything is normal. He said, basically, if you’ve done it before, like in terms of you’re a dancer, you’ve done lifts, you’ve done this, you’ve done that, then crack on and keep doing what you were doing.
“He said, because you’ve danced since you were five, literally, this is what your body’s meant to do. He said, you shouldn’t stop what you do. So obviously, with lifts, you just do it with caution.”
The comments offered clarity after days of speculation online. On X, some viewers had questioned whether continuing with the demanding choreography was safe.
One post read: “For her own safety, I hope Dianne isn’t doing any lifts on Strictly.” Another one on TikTok suggested: “She can [dance] but she won’t be able to do lifts.”
Dianne herself directly responded to the TikTok user’s doubts, replying cheekily: “I sure can darlin x.”
Now, after her podcast interview, many fans say they feel reassured that her decision is being guided by professionals. “It’s ridiculous tbh. She’s fit and been dancing for like forever and as if she wouldn’t have got medical advice,” one person commented on X.
Another wrote: “She is well capable of dancing while pregnant, being active is good, but I was concerned about her doing lifts so it’s good to hear she is still allowed to do them.”
The BBC favourite has been a mainstay on Strictly Come Dancing since 2017, reaching the final with Joe McFadden in her debut series and famously striking up a romance with partner Joe Sugg the following year. Her relationship with the YouTuber blossomed after the show, and the pair went public shortly after finishing runners-up in 2018.
