La Voix has disclosed the severity of her injury which has forced her withdrawal from Strictly Come Dancing’s upcoming live show in a new update. The drag performer, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, was scheduled to take to the floor in week nine of the competition this Saturday (November 22), which will this week be transmitted live from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. And it was during the latest results show on Sunday night (November 16) that the seven couples set to make the journey up north were confirmed ahead of the show this Saturday (November 22).

However, there was disappointing news earlier this week as it was announced that La Voix has been forced to withdraw from the show’s Blackpool special due to injury. A Strictly spokesperson said: “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery”, reports Manchester Evening News.

Throughout the interview, Chris commended the programme’s medical staff whilst revealing that his foot problems had persisted since ‘the Foxtrot week’.

He said: “This has been ongoing since the Foxtrot week. I felt a little niggle in my foot, hence why there were some comments about me being flat footed in the famous heel turn. I thought ‘this will be fine’, it got gradually worse and worse.

“On Saturday, we had to change shoes and I couldn’t wear heels. I had to wear those awful shoes, La Voix in awful flat shoes… We tried on Monday to learn this week’s dance and it was clear I was struggling and in pain. We had to be professional and call it, get some rest.”

Aljaz added: “Blackpool without La Voix is a big mood dipper. It’s hard when Strictly ends for any couple, but this hasn’t ended for us. I feel like your connection to Blackpool, there’s so much that ties you back to it. Both of us, more than ever, every step we were doing with Couple’s Choice, I was thinking of that.”

On Thursday morning (November 20), Chris shared a video on Instagram providing more details about his injury, explaining he was on his way for an MRI scan to determine the full extent of the damage.

In the video, he explained: “Hello, my darlings. Well, as I’m looking at social media and everyone is off to Blackpool, I’m off for an MRI scan to see what is actually going on with my foot. I have a bone bruise, which is basically from the repetition of being on my heels, and it’s in the area where my toe joint meets my foot.

“So it’s like a deep joint bruise, which basically, if I keep working on it, could become a stress fracture, which obviously means a broken foot, which is six to eight weeks off my foot in a boot, which would be awful. So luckily, they’ve caught it before it’s got to that stage.”

Chris praised the programme’s physiotherapy team, along with the entire Strictly cast and crew, describing them as “been amazing”. He continued: “I’ve had MRIs, I’ve had X-rays, I’ve had physio, and that’s all, carrying on today. So I’ve got my very attractive boot on… which is so awful and I’m icing, keep my foot elevated and resting as much as I can!”
