EastEnders has aired a worrying outcome for Avani Nandra-Hart, in the show’s latest episode.
This week, an unfortunate chain of events meant Avani, Lily and Amy were taking to the police station accused of possessing drugs – and although she was innocent, Avani was strip-searched in harrowing scenes.
When Priya found out what had happened, she made a complaint against the officers, but Avani was furious as she wanted to keep things a secret.
Desperate to escape her ordeal, the teenager took a bottle of vodka and drank it in the playground, before collapsing.

In today’s episode, set the next morning, Priya was concerned that she hadn’t heard from Avani, and her worries grew when Ravi said she hadn’t stayed with him.
The family went looking for Avani and Ravi was horrified to find her lying in the playground unresponsive.
After taking his daughter to get checked out by the GP, Ravi realised that Priya, Suki and Eve were hiding something from him. Suki explained about Avani being detained at the station but stayed quiet about what happened next.

Ravi saw Jack and Amy at Walford East and questioned them both about the situation, suspicious that he hadn’t been told the full truth. Amy admitted that the police did something to her, before Jack encouraged Ravi to ask Avani himself.
He returned home to confront Avani, who quickly stormed out, and Suki eventually revealed that Avani was strip-searched by the police.
Priya and Ravi had an emotional conversation, and while Ravi wanted to take action, Priya feared that this would push Avani away further.

In an emotional scene, Ravi then opened up to Avani about his own past experiences, disclosing for the first time that he was also strip-searched by the police as a teenager. As a result, Avani finally felt able to speak honestly about her ordeal to her parents.
But that evening, Avani snuck out to see a dealer, who sold her some weed – suggesting that she is looking for a more dangerous way to deal with her pain.
Is this the start of a new struggle for Avani?
