Patrick Mahomes and NFL ref (Photos via Twitter)
A new photo from the Kansas City Chiefs-Houston Texans Divisional Round game provides further confirmation that the NFL refs were not cheating for Patrick Mahomes and company on Saturday.
The NFL refs came under fire for several questionable calls that benefited the Chiefs against the Texans, including two head-scratching “Roughing the Passer” calls drawn by Mahomes and a missed hip-drop tackle by Bryan Cook on Dalton Schultz.
Several Texans players and head coach DeMeco Ryans didn’t hold back after the game, with star edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. saying, “We knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game.”
Say what you want about the performance of the NFL refs, but this photo further proves that the Chiefs’ 23-14 win is not on them. I mean, look at how open Travis Kelce was on this play:
Kelce caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Houston can also blame its horrid offensive line that allowed eight sacks on C.J. Stroud against KC’s vaunted defense.
NFL Refs Can’t Escape “Favoring The Chiefs” Accusations
All season long, the officials have faced accusations of favoring Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champions. After yesterday’s game, however, it’s safe to say that the notion is only going to grow higher.
