Jim Acosta is reportedly leaving CNN, with several people unhappy with the reliable news anchor leaving the iconic TV station after over 15 years of service.
The news anchor, who joined the network all the way back in 2007, has allegedly called it quits after his show was officially scrapped from CNN’s programming schedule.
On Monday, The Status newsletter reported that Jim was expected to leave CNN following last week’s announcement that his 10am program would be replaced by The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown in the network’s latest reshuffle – with Acosta reportedly unhappy with this change.
The newsletter had previously reported that Mark Thompson, the CEO of CNN, suggested that Jim move from his usual one-hour slot to a two-hour slot starting at midnight, a significantly less prestigious and desirable place in the lineup.
One CNN insider told Fox News Digital they heard that the 53-year-old star “struggled with the choice” and could potentially terminate his contract early as a result.

The insider noted Jim’s apparent exit “takes courage,” adding: “Many viewers like Jim… if there is anyone who could make the overnight go it’s him. They also admitted: “It’s sad to see him go.
Earlier this month, CEO Mark confirmed rumours that the anti-Tr-ump anchor would lose his morning show after over 200 layoffs at the network were announced.
At the time, a network spokesperson said: “We are in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon. “.
Jim gained recognition as CNN’s chief White House correspondent due to his contentious relationship with President Do-nald Tr-ump and his aides during his first administration. Following the 2020 election, he transitioned to the role of chief domestic correspondent.
Initially, he anchored a weekend show, but it seems that the network’s current leadership is attempting to present its programming as more neutral for Tr-ump’s potential second term in the White House.
Several other CNN staff members are reportedly unhappy with these changes, viewing them as capitulating to Tr-ump.
