Dylan Dreyer gave an update on fellow Today Show co-host Sheinelle Jones, who’s been on a leave of absence since last year.
Jones, 47, took a break from the Today Show in December as she’s been dealing with a “family health matter.” She hasn’t made an appearance on the show since December, and fans are wondering where she is and if everything is okay.
Her co-hosts have assured viewers that she is doing well as they continue to pray for her. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Dreyer – whose own son just recently had a hospital operation – explained that they check in with Jones weekly.
Dreyer said, “We chat with her often. A week doesn’t go by where we’re not checking in, seeing how she’s doing. We pray for her all the time, we can’t wait for her to come back, so we’re just waiting for that day to come.”

Co-host Carson Daly added that they are unsure of her timeline on when she will return to the show, but they want to give her all the time she needs. “We’re wishing her well and she’s spending much-needed time with her family and that’ll just take its course. And there’s so much love going out to her,” he said.
Jones first posted about her absence on Instagram in January after fans noticed she’d been gone from the show.
At the time, she said, “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.

“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”
She hasn’t made a post on Instagram since then. Host Jenna Bush Hager recently opened up about how the job at the Today Show can be demanding, making her miss family time. She shared a story about missing her son’s play because of work.
That was why longtime host Hoda Kotb left the show this year. She departed the Today Show in January to spend more time with her daughters.
