Paddy McGuinness has decided to quit as the host of a hit Channel 4 series – but the network are set to continue with a third series of the show.

Tempting Fortune, which gets 12 strangers to survive in the wilderness hoping to win a £300,000 prize pot, will come back for a third series but not with Paddy McGuinness.

The host had fronted the first two seasons but will step down from the third due to his other commitments and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Paddy was the host of Tempting Fortune

Speaking about his exit in a statement, father of three Paddy said: “I am happy to be passing the baton on and the new host is in for a real treat because it’s a great show. I will be sad to leave it, but with other commitments and enjoying more family time, I’ve had to make some difficult choices.”

A replacement has not been revealed yet, but Channel 4 have formally commissioned another iteration of Tempting Fortune, and filming is set to take place in Malaysia in early 2026.

A spokesperson for the network said: “Paddy has been a brilliant host of Tempting Fortune, bringing his trademark humour to both series. We’re grateful for everything he’s brought to the show, and we totally understand that the filming commitment overseas is a big one and he is unable join us for the next series.”

Tempting Fortune started in 2023, when contestants had to survive in the wilderness of South Africa with only the basic rations and survival gear.

During the six part series, the competitors had to avoid temptations to win the biggest cash prize they can – any ‘temptation’ they spend money on is deducted from the prize fund.

Temptations included things like coffees, a night in a hotel, and maps to the next camp. The second series swapped South Africa for Malaysia and aired March through April this year.

The most that has been won on the show is £28,835, which was taken by vicar David in the second series. Applications for the next series are now open. It is expected to air in late 2026 or early 2027.
