Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao receives SUPPORT from colleagues after making HEARTBREAKING ANNOUNCEMENT about her cancer condition
Jacquie Beltrao has shared an update with fans as she marked Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The Sky Sports presenter, who was first diagnosed in 2013 before having a mastectomy, has publicly told her followers that she has been “lucky” to have been able to survive for so long. The former Olympic gymnast has been working as a sports presenter for Sky for over 30 years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction. However, in 2020, during lockdown, she found a lump below her collarbone that was the size of a grain of rice.
Uploading a series of snaps of herself during her cancer journey, including photos of herself in hospital, she penned on Instagram: “It’s Metastic Breast Cancer Awareness Day – funnily enough I’m aware …most days… whether I’m popping the pills that keep my cancer at bay, or feeling bloody exhausted from said pills, or saying positive mantras while I yoga, or just in a quiet moment between, family, home and work I just think about it for a minute.”

She added: “I think about how lucky I’ve been to survive for this long – 5.5 years and feel this well. And sometimes a little bit about how unlucky I’ve been to find myself a stage 4 cancer patient in the first instance. But onwards, keep going forwards […] and keep counting those lucky stars.”
One of her followers said in the comments: “Thank you for sharing, Jacquie and all the other posts you do. It’s this awareness that helped me get through my own treatment.”
A second person also said: “You are an inspiration to many, Jacquie. Wishing you many, many more years of good health.” A third typed: “You are amazing Jacquie! Strong and full of energy!”
She was previously fighting stage four breast cancer, having undergone chemotherapy and a mastectomy over a decade ago. Almost five years ago, she was told the tragic news that the disease had returned.
However, thanks to an incredible drug called olaparib, she was able to fight off her cancer, and the 60-year-old is now free of the disease.
Jacquie has also been very open with her cancer battle and documented her journey online to raise awareness.
