Jeremy Clarkson, who currently stars in his own show, Clarkson’s Farm, is celebrating his 65th birthday today (April 11).
Over the years, Jeremy has remained a prominent face on television. After serving as the main presenter on Top Gear for several series, he now also hosts Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
As he celebrates a huge birthday milestone, we’re taking a look at everything he’s said about his health…

Jeremy Clarkson’s heart procedure following scare
Last October, Jeremy revealed he had to undergo a heart procedure following a “sudden deterioration” in his health.
After enjoying a swim on holiday, he said he felt “clammy”, had a “tightness in my chest”. Jeremy also felt “pins and needles in my left arm”.
In his article for The Times, the TV star explained he had trouble standing up. He admitted he had to “take a moment to make sure my limbs were working properly”.
“These problems all manifested themselves in one day, which made the rest of my holiday extremely relaxing because all I did was sit in a chair drinking wine and eating cheese,” he added.
As a result, Jeremy was sent by ambulance to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital. Test results ruled out a heart attack, and he had a stent fitted within two hours.
“It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way,” he said.
Jeremy stated that doctors believed he was “days away” from potentially becoming very ill. He thanked the hospital staff as well as “all of their extraordinary machines”.
Hearing loss
In 2023, Jeremy opened up about suffering from hearing loss in his left ear.
He admitted to struggling with his hearing but noticed it suddenly got worse. Jeremy said he had taken his dogs for a walk and soon after felt there was water in his left ear.
Jeremy feared that losing his hearing would be worse than losing his sight. He said he couldn’t “bear thinking about” not listening to music or birdsong.
In his column for The Times, Jeremy said he had no warning signs. He explained: “There was no pop; no trauma. One minute it was operating normally, and then there was nothing. I put my finger in my right ear and was enveloped instantly in a blanket of absolute silence.”
Jeremy continued: “Later that evening a doctor (I know, I’m private, okay shoot me) poked about in there with a torch and announced that all looked clear, so the problem must be where the ear connected to the brain. Scary stuff.
“And then it got scarier still because he said that I needed, immediately, to go on a course of heavy-duty steroids. This would mean taking 17 pills, five times a day.”
Luckily, Jeremy shared that his hearing returned to its “normal, semi-useless state” the next day. He had been stressing it would be permanent.
Jeremy Clarkson health: ‘My knees give me no confidence’
As he’s got older, Jeremy has noticed a change in his body.
“My knees give me no confidence when I’m coming down a flight of stairs,” he said to The Sun in 2021. “My back locks solid if I attempt to walk up a hill.”
Due to his weak knees, Jeremy has to now take it easy while working on his farm.
In May 2023, he said: “There’s a lot of jumping involved in farming… But like almost every other farmer in Britain these days, I’m in my early sixties, and so are my knees.
“Which means that while I can get on top of things, I can’t jump off them anymore for fear that my legs will bend the wrong way and that’ll be that for six months.”
‘If I don’t pack it in soon, I will suffer’
Also in 2023, Jeremy revealed he was told that his blood pressure was higher than it needed to be.
After admitting he had a smoking addiction where he had a 40-a-day habit, Jeremy was rushed to hospital while on holiday. He was later diagnosed with pneumonia.
“For most of my adult life, stern-faced doctors warned me that if I didn’t give up smoking, I would suffer from an agonising and premature death,” he told The Guardian in 2017.
“But then, as you may have heard, I got pneumonia while I was on holiday, and I was told, by everyone, that I had to stop.”
He managed to give up puffing cigarettes after taking nicotine gum. However, he has since been advised to stop taking them.
Jeremy later said: “This week, a doctor said it’s causing a worrying rise in my blood pressure and that if I don’t pack it in soon, I will suffer from an agonising and premature death.”

Jeremy Clarkson ‘sick’ after weight-loss jabs
Last month, Jeremy announced he had quit using weight-loss jabs after he was left feeling unwell.
In his column for The Times, the TV presenter said they “didn’t work” and had a negative impact on his health.
“My body lost the ability to deal with gluttony but once the initial enthusiasm had worn off, my mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut,” he said.
“This meant I was sick a lot. And after I had vomited, I figured I was empty and could have another bottle and maybe another bar of chocolate too.”
