Where in the world is Dylan Dreyer? That’s the question many Today show fans had when the morning show meteorologist shared an Instagram photo of her family of five on a plane bound for an unknown destination last week.
The Today show host and mom of three posted a photo taken by her husband, Brian. It showed Dylan dressed casually in comfy travel clothes, sitting in the aisle seat of a plane with her sons Calvin, 7, and Oliver, 4, next to her taking up the window and middle seat, and her youngest son Rusty, 3, on her lap. She’s captured holding up her own phone, taking a shot of Brian with a row of three seats all to himself, which she also shared.
Most fans gushed over the two photos, captioned “#deltacomfort,” with sweet words about her family, or commiserated with the relatable feeling of the kids “only wanting mom.” But what looked like an innocent enough snapshot of a family headed on vacation also garnered some negative responses from folks.
“Let’s stop pretending you’re not flying first class, seriously,” one person wrote. “I thought you only rode business class 🤷🏽♂️,” another chimed in. In relation to Dylan’s second photo of husband Brian having an entire row to himself, someone else said, “Mama with baby on one seat and Daddy on three seats and no baby! Typical.”

Not everyone felt that way, though, and many were quick to jump in and defend Dylan against some of the harsher comments.
“Why follow her if you are just going to say mean stuff? It cost nothing to be nice,” a fan replied. “Ignore some of these comments. You both work very hard (and are) awesome parents. Keep doing what you’re doing🌹,” another person wrote. Someone else commented, “Why so mean everybody? Can we get back to just rooting for each other? These two seem to be very nice people! They have a lovely family and they aren’t trying to scam anyone. What is wrong with everyone 🤔.”
Luckily, the majority of comments were well-meaning and kind. Although Dylan didn’t share where exactly the family of five was headed, some speculate that this trip could be an early celebration of Dylan’s upcoming birthday on August 2, when she’ll turn 43. Nevertheless, here’s hoping she’s swiped social media from her mind and is enjoying some much needed family time.
